so just for listening to a track, you earn crypto?
or do people have to buy the music using crypto they've purchased?
I was operating under the impression you got Notes for people listening to you. Almost none of mine will be for me listening. I have around 30k of teh Notes for having uploaded some things and let 'em sit there. EARNING!
sorry, that's what i meant, did samplescience earn just for me listening.

30k notes? :o
although i dont know the note/dollar exchange rate, but to me you sound rich now
Yeah, I earned Notes if you listened to my tracks (thank you!). It's not much different than Spotify, except that the Notes are supposed to be worth more than the fraction of a penny that Spotify gives to artists for their plays.

That being said, I'm not sure Choon was a wise choice anymore, as it seems to be down for more than 2 days now. I did a bit of research and read articles saying that they delete accounts massively due to abuse. But the bot they are using for that is deleting legit accounts.

I think I'll move my tunes to a more reliable crypto-based music platform if the situation doesn't change.

Wait, these "Notes" convert to some kind of money?
Yeah,...
so just for listening to a track, you earn crypto?
Yes, it's as simple as that.

However, I have no idea (yet) on how it translates into real-world money.
This is the part I don't grok.

I get vastly more plays there than anywhere else on the net. Some look like people are going over and over the track.
With dollar signs in my eyes I feel like participating. Normally my music is coloring too far outside the lines for anything.
You have a Choon account?

Reliable crypto? Let us know if you find such a thing.

I'm sure that "bot" wasn't deleting accounts to avoid payouts.

Sample, do you know of any viable alternatives? I’m definitely interested in any other platforms you may find!

Crypt: A vault under a church or a room in a mausoleum where the deceased reside. :D

Well, Choon is supposed to be back online now and it's still not there. Thank god I didn't promote it via email, it would have been a major waste of time.

I had a look at other crypto-based music websites, and most of them had problems. For instance, DSound: I can't get the music to play, I click on play and nothing happens.

So the best solution, in my opinion, and judging from the information I gathered on different websites, is to upload your music on Soundcloud and promote it via Steemit. This way, you get the crypto via Steemit, which is already fully operational, and if it ever goes down and disappears you still have your music on Soundcloud. Steemit is a crypto-based social network.

Keep in mind that all of this is very experimental. As you have seen with Choon, these sites can go under fairly quickly and unexpectedly.

Well, it turns out that Choon is now dead. Emanate is another company that will accept Choon notes and users. But at this point, I've done my research and I see that cryptocurrencies are not worth it. In fact, they are very close to being a scam. Here's an article that explains the situation very well:

https://www.mrmoneymustache.com/2018/01 ... is-stupid/

So if you want to make a bit of money making music, Bandcamp and Spotify are better sources. I've made a few hundred on Bandcamp myself, but never really focused on it to make more.
