Great track, even without the suggestions... Certainly not an ordinary guy here. Well done! :)

Well I have written a song that I cannot sing. And I am bummed. It is just too high and complex. So...I am hoping to dive deep on the other one tonight and pull something together by tomorrow.

Maybe when my throat heals a bit I can tackle it. For now, it is shoved toward the end of the month...eish. I hate to say it, but you guys would love it, at least lyrically! It will appear in some form. Hopefully before the end of the month.
Transpose it if all else fails. Sometimes a new key works even better.

I thought of transposing, but then the lows are too low for me, ha ha. I need better range. Actually I need to not write vocal tracks the way I write instrumental tracks (ok giving away my secrets now, ha).

Oh, one of those. Here's what you do. Don't tell anybody my secret. When you get to those high notes, sing the highest note under it that you can reach. Then go to vari audio or whatever you use and just move the note up. Nobody will notice.

I can hit the notes. But it sounds awful. Just too thin. My head voice is a full as it used to be. I think a different sounding voice would actually work on this arrangement. Who knows. I got time to go back to it.

Working on the next one now.

Ok the first track is finished and up. It feels unfinished, but that is the nature of these challenges. More time, better vocals, better planned fills, etc. etc. It is called: Not About You

Not About You

She wrote me letters, asking to state her case
Better than trying to say it to my face
This is incredible for the amount of time you spent on it. Even if this took weeks to make, its still really impressive.

Ok, while technically my 6th track (after two VERY difficult tracks) this is my official 4th track for the 2020 RPM Challenge

House of Cards

https://soundcloud.com/jonsolo/house-of-cards

House of Cards

Hiding away in your paper walls
You’re unaware but one day you’ll fall

Don’t act surprised, when you open your eyes
Huffing and puffing with your last breath
You blew till you were through and there was nothing left

You reached for the sky with no where to land
You built it too high and played your last hand
Your big deal almost dealt yourself out
Playing in your house of cards

Once in a while you get to reflect
How your great fall almost broke your neck

But you never cared, you weren’t even scared
You pulled your hand and played again like it’s a game
But don’t you know that in the end its all the same

You reach for the sky with no where to land
You build it too high and you play your last hand
You big deal won’t you deal yourself out
Playing in your house of cards

You reached for the sky with no where to land
You built it too high and played your last hand
Your big deal almost dealt yourself out
Playing in your house of cards

Very well done. I do have a question. Real guitars or virtual? They sound really good.

There are RARELY real guitars on anything I do. I work out parts on guitar to make sure they are playable by a real guitarist, but since I am just not that good, I take it back to the keyboard and rework it out. Most of the time, I can pull it off and fool the "average" listener. But not you guys, heh.

Well, I don't know. It sounded pretty damn good to me.

Ok track 5 is completed. It is some sappy fun, let me tell you...ok you will just have to listen. Some obvious inspiration here. Hope you enjoy... When? Where?

https://soundcloud.com/jonsolo/when-where

When? Where?

You fell into my world
And then you fell again
Then you became my girl
And my best friend
Who could’ve known that little spark in our class
Would begin something that would always last

Look where we are look where we’ve been
We finally went and got this thing done
Tied at the heart always best friends
Just like the kids in Moonrise Kingdom
Light of my life
Pumped through my veins
You’ve been my love since 7th grade
It started when I asked “When?”
And you asked “Where?”

We took our different paths
But we were never done
We had to face the past
And overcome
I didn’t think that I could survive the lightning
Like moments in both our lives it was quite frightening

Look where we are look where we’ve been
We finally went and got this thing done
Tied at the heart always best friends
Just like the kids in Moonrise Kingdom
Light of my life
Pumped through my veins
You’ve been my love since 7th grade
It started when I asked “When?”
And you asked “Where?”

Little girl says “You’ve got lightening in you.”
I just smile and say that “its ok”
“It will still be in me tomorrow
So meet me in the field. Let’s run away!”

Look where we are look where we’ve been
We finally went and got this thing done
Tied at the heart always best friends
Just like the kids in Moonrise Kingdom
Light of my life
Pumped through my veins
You’ve been my love since 7th grade
It started when I asked “When?”
And you asked “Where?”

:sigh: I wonder who I can find to buy my computer, software, and keyboard.

When I hear stuff like this it makes me just want to give up. If I had the money, I'd pay you to do a video of how you recorded and mixed this. Especially those background vocals. Aside from that you can sing, I wouldn't even know where to begin to get background vocals to sound like that.

Under the gun of having to do 10 songs in 29 days, you've so far put together a collection that would make a 6 month effort proud.

I think this one is the best of them all but they're all so good it's really hard to rank them.

Now if you don't mind, I'm gonna go find a corner of the room to crawl into a fetal position.

Oh come on...ha ha. Thank you for the listen. I haven't done a vocal album since 2008 and no where near as prolific as you, so I got lots to pool from.

My wife videos many of my sessions. Maybe I can get a few together for you.
