You can't really compare a synth and guitar like that. A guitar only comes with one "preset", the famous "A001 Guitar" preset, while a synth can create (synthesize) many different kinds of sounds. More oscillators, LFO's, envelopes, filter types, modulation destinations. audio routing options etc. clearly make a synthesizer more versatile when it comes to synthesizing sounds. There are lots of sounds you simply cannot create on a Juno with its single oscillator, envelope and LFO. It's closer to a guitar in that way because most Juno patches tend to sound distinctly like a Juno, due to the limitations and characteristic sound of the chorus.christian f. wrote: Fri Mar 06, 2020 5:44 amWith that logic ... 12 string guitar is more versatile than a six string guitar. What a nonsense.BONES wrote: Fri Mar 06, 2020 5:25 am Anyway, enough OT, suffice to say the OB-Xa is a much more versatile synth than any Juno and that is sure to be reflected in the emulation.
I'm sure this synth will be fantastic like all Synapse products, but it's a crowded market. OP-X Pro II already sounds very close to the original, and there's also the free OBXD and a number of other virtual analog polysynths that don't emulate the OB-X in particular but sound very similar.
