Ha! Interesting you should say that. I just put two biggish DeWalt lithium ion batteries into their chargers, preparing for a plumbing repair chore and some chainsaw work on damaged trees. By morning 10 amp-hours of juice will be ready to go.
I'm crazy for drums. Got a nice Alesis kit and soooo many plug-ins to send its MIDI to. I'll have to give Battery a shot before long. FXpansion will likely always be my favorite, but alternatives are nice to have around.

When I have time, I like to load up all my apps
having midi-out, and start going through Battery kits
until I get lucky with some combos of tempo,
kit, and what the sequence is playing. And add a Polyplex
or other Reaktor percussion ensembles. Bosomac
has instruments that compliment drums nicely,
when things get on a roll. I also like ArtVera's Drumatoxin,
(Wusikstation soundset) when not craving some
subtle or ambient set.
Speaking of which, If William K could put his whole system
in a single folder called Data, I'm sure the braintrust
at NI Central could do the same. Having soundsets,
presets, effects, plugins yada yada all in one location,
is great. Having them scattered all over
the windows spaghetti factory, not so much.
I've got tree work ahead, also, enjoying a nice warm stove
with last years trimmings, as the wind howls at the btu's.
Cheers

May I ask which new features?digitalboytn wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2020 1:12 am I must be one of the few people around here who appreciates B4...
It was an unexpected surprise and I find the new features very helpful...

No. It's not useless but considering the next iteration should be an upgrade, not a downgrade, it IS a bit disappointing.

Kontakt 5 got a lot of new high quality filters, comps and effects that were migrated to Battery 4...Sascha Franck wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2020 5:36 amMay I ask which new features?digitalboytn wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2020 1:12 am I must be one of the few people around here who appreciates B4...

The Solid Mix series,Transient Master,a tape saturator and a few other nice bits and pieces..
The filters were also upgraded a few notches....
That was punny
I'm not sure if the velocity layering was a new feature, but I started using it with B4 and it's a Godsend for me because some of the drums and percussion sounds I'm using in B4 have over 80 layers of velocity...
Setting that up in the B4 editor is a one click affair...
My main drums still come out of BFD3,but Battery is a great program for percussion and hits...
One of NI's finest efforts
No auto tune...

And fwiw, velocity layering has been in Battery since ages, the editor only got abysmally small in Battery 4 whereas it was half decent in version 3 - so that's not a plus but just another step back.

And let me add these (also not mentioned in the video):
- When you close the GUI and reopen it, in Battery 4 *always* the topmost, leftmost cell will be selected, vs. the cell you selected last in Battery 3. Depending on how you work with it, that's just incredibly annoying.
- The modulation section is now spread over two tabs, so you can't see all modulations at once anymore. Would've made sense in case they raised the overall number of modulation slots, but they didn't, it's still just 8 in total. Another completely idiotic idea born out of absolute cluelessness.

Well, except for in the NI boardroom, apparently....digitalboytn wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2020 9:28 pmThere is really no need for any debate on this issue....highkoo wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2020 1:55 pm The only reason the bitching has made them revisit the decision is because the legally binding EULA language was discovered by users rather than NIs f**king lawyers.
Another bad sign.
Stubbed the company toe while ignoring twenty year old boilerplate EULA language.

Oh wow this is a surprise. Not using any old versions but I feel for those still using the sound packs that will be discontinued. Surely NI will fix this.
