Good stuff, thanks.
Also having this weakness for Hammond with heavy guitars, I was sold on intro already.
I will definitely get a live album DVD with these guys.

Boring, obvious choices for me :-):
On recordings it's Satch and on stage Jeff Beck.

Same . . . except my two favourite guitarists are Tony Bourge from Budgie, and hard bopper, Kenny Burrell. I listened to Budgie this afternoon and am going to put a Kenny CD on during dinner, and for a change I was listening to Hawkwind earlier, and was reminded of this.

It is acoustic, but still hits me into a headspace just as much as it did when I first heard it in the mid '70's.

be sure to check more on youtube first.
i personally like all their stuff, but prefer their first few albums.
theyve been around a fair time now, so the matrrial has changed a lot.
earlier it was more psychedelic and he could have been described as a poor mans dg.
the later stuff was more heavy style modern prog. his solo stuff now is more introspective and poppy but still elements of prog.

theres plenty to enjoy though, so have fun and stay safe!

I found the 2005 live album "arriving somewhere" - 2 CD and a bluray with concert.
It had good reviews and referred to as probably the best they ever did.
I might have in mailbox tomorrow.

Why I like live concerts is that they usually contain the best a band/artist ever did.
And you can check out gear they use etc.

Studio albums are often filled with so much crap.
I often use spotify to evaluate albums of new artist I am not familiar with.
Also works well.

he did a "that pedal show" going through his live rig :tu:

For as long as I can remember, my three favourites have been Dave Gilmour, Mark Knofler and Jimi Hendrix.

Michael Hedges...who woulda thunk there's an entire orchestra hidden inside a 6-string acoustic guitar?

I've always been fond of Nels Cline. You would never know from the first minute that this song would turn into a shredfest.
