I still don't get it. I just want to load samples into the Fantom and map to keyboard. Lol. I'm guessing I'll eventually be able to do that with Zenology full edit version? Assuming you can load samples into it. I can export these current sounds to hardware, but no way to load a sample into zenology

Well, excited about the lifetime keys and excited to see how well this integrates with my Roland hardware.

Roland is doing some nice things here imo and it seems the zenthing is coming together with 1 engine spanning both software and hardware.
Some people regret Roland not going the Behringer route and choosing virtualisation instead but it surely has the added advantage of creating 1 solution that can be used in both software and hardware and that allows you to create 1 workstation that can hold numerous recreations in just one machine (Jupiter X(m), MC-707). I like it soundwise and certainly as a concept.

I can load a sample into a tone track on the MC-707 or load a sample into a zencore oscillator.
I assume you can do that too in the Fantom??

Martkorg wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 12:06 pm And a mate has the Roland System 8 said that uses 30% and above
At my mobile i7-7700HQ Quad-Core CPU the CPU usage in Live 10 shows up to 30% but that is independent of how many voices you play which means it will never exceed that percentage no matter if you play 1 or 8 voices.

You can reduce CPU usage by using a smaller voice limit like e.g. 6 voices and/or by actiaving the "Optimize For Lower CPU Usage" option from the OPTIONS menu. Similar options are available for the Jupiter-8 plugin.

With this CPU i can use up to 5 instances of the System-8 plugin when each of them uses up to 8 voices and without using the "Optimize For Lower CPU Usage" feature. With that feature activated i could use more instances of the plugin and also when using a smaller voice limit for some of them. You will hardly need the full 8 voices for all instances used in a song.
Thanks his PC spec is a Ryzen 5 3600 16gb ram,Six Core CPU
I will let him know about the " optimise for CPU Usage" A 4Key chord uses 30% on his system

It's definitely not using 30% of his entire available CPU power. It's more likely using 30% of a single core or thread. Which is still a lot. But that still leaves plenty of processing power available for other things. Measuring CPU usage is tricky and 30% means something, but the devil is in the details: "30% of what?"

Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 1:58 am I was due two lifetime instruments this month. I hope that didn't go away! Not going to freak out about it and assume the worst. Glad they're offering lifetime keys. Just some ideas on pricing...

D-50: $149
Jupiter-8: $149
JX-3P: $129
TB-303: $149
JV-1080/XV-5080: $149
SRX Expansions: $69
System-1: $99
Are those the actual prices or did you mean that's what you hope they price them at? I don't have membership to check, and didn't see the individual prices on the site. Also does it mean you'd need at least a 1 year membership and then pay for the lifetime key on top of that membership cost?

For instance, say I wanted the D-50 plugin...so would it be $99 for a year, plus the $149 but I keep the plugin forever?
Those are actual prices. I saw them in the Cloud Manager app. If you want the D-50, you'd spend $149, then just have to keep a Roland Cloud account (doesn't mean you need to stay subscribed, just don't delete your account). Download the Roland Cloud Manager, create an account, and try to purchase the D-50. I haven't tried this new process yet, but it should be possible.

That is a great update! I'm a subscriber but I was becoming more and more skeptical about this service. But Zenology is exactly the software instrument that I wanted from Roland Cloud so it's good. However, I don't think we have the full version of the software yet.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does that mean? Do you have to have it connected to the interwebs or something for them to work?

Unless they changed it, it will "call home" every 7 days to to make sure your authorized to use the plugin. So you might need to keep the Cloud Manager running in the background on your PC, or you'll be prompted to login to the service with your User ID and Password every few days to allow the plugins to perform the check.

You don't need to keep paying, but you can't just ask Roland to entirely delete your Cloud account either.

Ah... That is in deed a bit disappointing and a little archaic. :(

Thanks for the info'.

So it's a Lifetime licence, but the Cloud Manager is still going to validate it once a week.

Pretty much. As Robmobius just said, it is indeed a littler archaic.

I haven't figured it out. Read through the manual a bunch. You can import a wav file into the pads, but I don't see a way to select a wave from external source when editing a tone.

He uses Presonus studio 1 I believe,I'm not familiar with how he's knows the CPU usage,I use FL Studio and you can clearly see the CPU usage

The srx units I had,the JV 1080 were using 20% for one instance

I don't have any software vst that gets anywhere near that figure, maybe Arturia Pigments thinking about it

Lifetime keys for a cloud service. Yeah right. Don't waste your money. I have seen plenty of cloud services that have sold lifetime access fold overnight. It's a total joke.
