Looking for a reverb that sounds like TC Electronic's Hall of Fame 2 pedal...

I haven't had much luck finding the right sound with my reverb plugins, I feel like I've been searching for ages. I've tried Valhalla Vintage, all of the Waves reverbs, Toraverb 2, the Ableton stock reverb, but nothing sounds as good as the Hall of Fame 2 to my ears.

Any suggestions? Affordable options if possible? Any thoughts on Soundtoys' offerings (they're having a big sale right now)? u-He's Twangström?

Thanks!

It is unclear whether OP already has the pedal.
If not, given that it's the sound you want, why not just get the pedal for between approx £85-£130 (which is a price comparable to many vst delays) ?

Clarifications are in order!!

- Affordable would be around 100 euros for me.

- I do have the pedal but am looking for a plugin to use in my DAW.

You could start by demoing the TC VST reverbs. They released a few that had USB controller 'dongles' but recently released them to run without the hardware.

What's wrong with just using Hall Of Fame? That's convolution so it's gonna sound different then most algo reverbs.

But a similar sounding reverb to my ears would be the cheaper Lexicon MPX-1. Not sure what the price is but it comes free with the $100 Presonus Interface as part of they're bundle.

Also try Valhalla Room it's cleaner then Vintage Verb.

Actually what is the TC Electronic one a hall, plate, or room, because reverbs all are better at getting those specific sounds.

You sure its convolution and youre not thinking of the Best Service vst: Halls of Fame ?

Just to correct you:
MPX-1 is hardware
MPX-i is bundled with Presonus, its a cutdown version of MPX native.

By the way, I am quite surprised by the OP request, as his post starts by a quest for a "bread & butter" reverb, and finishes with him considering a spring reverb emulation (which is far, far from being a one-stop-shop reverb).

Also, the HoF is ok, but not ground breaking either (sound wise) and quite limited (feature wise), so if you are after one specific kind of sound, we may need more informations (by suggesting Twangström, do you mean you're after a vintage sound?), but if you want a bus reverb suitable for a wide range of work, many, many reverb will do the job better than the HoF : Acon Verberate2, Valhalla, Lexicon, Eareverb2, EOS2...
Any thoughts on Soundtoys' offerings (they're having a big sale right now)
My thought on SoundToys is that they don't have a reverb in their bundle, except for a plate model.

This is a fool's errand until you tell us which mode on the HOF pedal you are chasing.

FWIW that pedal pales next to a BigSky :D

Acon Verberate has several "Church/Cathedral" presets worth checking out (many reverb does, btw).

Its always going to sound better if its hardware, more tactile and thus engaging to our senses, even if the algorithm is the same.

The HoF pedal is good for the price if you need a simple utility reverb, but if you listen to a back to back comparison video with reverb pedals in roughly the same price range, you'll quickly notice the TC modes all generally sound the same with not much "character" between modes and compared to the same modes on other pedals. I considered one for a while, i compared it to other pedals and also plugins just to see how it holds up. I recently went with a Neunaber Immerse v1 pedal as you can find them used for $130-$150 now (regular reatil new a few years ago it was a $250 pedal). The thing i noticed about the HoF aside from the shimmer mode, was they all had a general dark character to them by default, and once the tone was turn up to be a little brighter the undesired metallic resonances began to show more and more if you wanted that reveverb to cut more in an actual live band mix.

Keep in mind the OP is looking for the HOF Church mode in plugin form, not another pedal. But +1 I have a Neunaber Slate pedal and love the "Grand Hall" algo.

I see they have now released the Wet reverb as a plugin..
