That was a temporary price to fund the new gui,
and is no longer required. I like the old gui as well,
and that type of gui is shared by Yoshimi, a well
developed linux offshoot of zyn, that offers a different
use-case than most synths, but shares the same excellent sound capabilities and presets as zyn
16 part multi-timbral synths
that sound great and are free,
are pretty rare these days.
Zyn/Yoshimi are a great compliment to a SampleTank,
both using 16 parts, both with multi-effects.
Cheers

I always liked this synth. The only issue was the GUI was a bit small. Glad to see they are still working on it. I went to the site....it seems there is a 45.00 or a demo that times out in 10min. I imagine you can still get the binaries if you want to build it.....no thanks. I did download the demo to check out the new GUI.

As far as I can tell, you pay for the precompiled binary, but you can also download the source code for free and compile it yourself. The website it pretty confusing though, so it's a bit unclear if the source code version includes everything that the binary does.

Well that was cool. That thread started with windows Vista 32bit....and ended with zynaddsubfx version 2.4.6.

It's a little murky this thing. What's the right arm to choose and use?
