Use a MIDI stompbox to change input device on tracks

Hello! I've been using Tracktion 7 for some time now, and I plan to use it even more extensively in the future. I'd like to make my recording sessions less time-consuming, and one thing I found to take up a lot of time is switching recording input for tracks.
I have 2 tracks; one for my clean guitar setup, and one distorted. I've seen some cheap MIDI stompboxes on the market (they use a line out) and I was wondering; can I make Tracktion switch input devices on tracks when I hit the switch? This would make things much easier to work with, and would open up the option of using my Tracktion setup to play live.
