When I'm gonna pull of a note should I lift off my finger from the strummed string before the pull off or just keep my finger on the strummed string while pulling off by the other finger

Post

Which finger.

In order to handle an effective pull off a little bending is involved. Strike the string, begin the slight bend and pull off. Bending happens downwards usually for pulloffs.

It's sort of like plucking the string with the tip of your finger. Same thing regardless of whether you pick, then pull off, or hammer and pull off.

So you do a little bend downward & then do the pull off? Often some of my pull off sounds louder & some sound mellow. Is this inconsistency a problem?

That depends on whether or not you want it to be the next note.

If yes, hold it.

If not, change it.
