within a limited range, yes

No, it's just OB-Xa with a few features added. But not those.

the two are really not comparable
A lot of subtractive synthesis is samey. Diva is sufficiently flexible that, for some, it dispenses with the need for lots of other "emulative" synths.

Thus, depending on your needs, it is comparable unless you're saying Diva can't cover a whole bunch of OB-XA territory? (Although, in Swan's infamous comparison, it was the more flexible OB-8, I think it somewhat establishes the point that it can cover that territory.. )

As for being an OB-XA emulation, we'll see. Arturia's effort can be improved on. But I've yet to hear anything from Obsession which established it's doing anything special, with resonance, over and above what Arturia's effort does..

If it hasn't already come up, maybe a tester can suggest those to Richard for a future enhancement. Not "must have" by any means, but definitely would be cool, quirky, and fit in with the OB vibe.

in a word, no

I'm sure KVR and YouTube both will be swarming with OBsession vs. OB-Xa V videos, and the eventual, OBsession vs. OB-Xa V vs. OB-Xa hardware.

Sorry, in all these friendly discussions I've lost track of the release date...
Will it come out before Zebra 3?

Post

Yes, probably this week, or the week after. Does Zebra 3 comes out before that?

SA would not release it if they didn't think it was accurate

Love U-he, but come on, Z3 won't be out this year. Sadly. No need to dig in.

Well, except those functions do matter for that particular aspect of brass sounds. So, depending on how much the step-lfo steps in here, OB-XA V has the advantage there..

Where Arturia messed up is they crippled individual voice variation (on an Oberheim emulation, no less!). That's really short sighted of them and should indeed give Obsession a sonic advantage.

Otherwise, for stuff like the resonance, I'm not hearing it do anything Arturia's doesn't, and it falls short of the OB-XA hardware.. sooo...

Maybe, but patch matching ability is a skill. A skill most of the hardware owners have in limited quantities..

Yeah, but you'll get the chance to do it yourself soon too. So if you can do it better...
