Hey,

recently I dived back into the ancient older past of mine (where I did some things in a primitive manner as there were no DAWs and computers available here for me and all the others then).

The way to publish in the old days had been eg. tape releases at this time (and I had the luck to have some of them on a "official" label..
Anyways, I don't want to post what had been published at this time, but stuff, that wasn't sent to public in those days at all...
.

...stuff recorded from one cassette recorder to another cassette recorder (and vice versa) and later on recorded into a 4-track tape recorder (with overdubs) - so all analogue and pre-digital and without midi, even most of the time handplayed (!) except the drum-machines... and crappy sounding compared to the digital gadgets we have nowadays. Though all of those crappers were remastered for listening pleasure... (-> and I probably will try to remaster/remix some tunes better again, when I get my old 4-Tracker Fostex repaired soon)

I thought I could share some of those old tunes here...
(all bandcamp-links for now)

Hi

Pharaoh's daughters from 'Infantilia 1' - very impressive vocal on that track, although you can never get enough of Autotune...

Seriously - it must be weird listening to stuff you made almost 35 years ago.

Listening to Mark Duruti Andante and I love it! Such a raw sound. Nice work. :tu:

Hey,

and thanks for giving this really old stuff a listen :)

Yeah, it's really weird maybe, but as it's part of the own history so ok.

I did so much music over the time laters of course, but I just thought some old tracks are still worth to be set out (kind of rediscovered them) - also threw a lot away naturally. Hopefully interesting enough in all the imperfection and sometimes painfulness.

I just found it may be also "weird" that there was a time everything was done by hand. I guess doubletaping / recording to 4-track was what got me starting with all that studio composing (as many others). Plus having a minimal setup helped creating. I really learned the Korg MS-10 inside out and even could make harmonies when recording track by track as it was monophone

I really love vstis of course - otherwise I wouldn't have landed here - sometimes today having so much virtual instruments though makes it even harder to create for me...though sound quality is worlds better of course.

 Jethrobull, thanks a lot.
I had an Echolette Amp then, which was heaven as first amp.

Theme for four

Sort of minimal music. Four e-guitars (recorded via 4-track-recorder). Little harsh mix.

Love the grungy-ness. Has a Boards of Canada A Few Old Tunes quality. The mix puts the lead synth way too loud, IMO. But overall I enjoyed listening to this song.
A well-behaved signature.
