Post your top 2 FREE VSTi synths with personality / unique sound.
Many FREE VSTi synths are great, many sound really similar. Ever loaded one up and FELT like, "OOooo, this has a unique flavor! (sound)"
Which ones and maybe why?
For me:
GTG K1.3 - just sounds warm and cuddly. Simple, fast, fun
http://www.gtgsynths.com/plugins.htm
CHIMERA - music tones sort of based on clean noise. Or something. I dunno, it's just cool.

Given unique as a qualifier, I can think of only one that I actually use:
Triple Cheese. The "Blown" oscillator setting is a go-to for me when I want that kind of sound.

Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Just two? then:
Aalto Solo (The free monophonic version of Aalto)

NUSofting Sinnah

Edit: Surge is definitely the best free synth AND has a personality, so I'm adding it as an "honorable mention"

hahahahaa fair enough. It's not about MY ears though, everyone is different.
Love the Bucket, and it covers its bases well, but not really unique and different TO ME.
I have a lot of new ones to try now.

remember: these should have UNIQUE sound to them, not just another really great SYNTH.
What makes the sound different, yet great? I guess my K1.3 was kinda weak, but it stands up and out next to all my other free ones, is why I mentioned it.
