Thanks, I didn't even know this existed! It looks like you can't find it from the search page at studiodrive, and it doesn't seem to rate a mention on the Madrona Labs web site, so the direct link is the only way to get to it.

After using a bunch of free synths in the One Synth Challenge, 2 that stand out for me as having unique sound would be Triple Cheese (probably already mentioned), and Waverazor LE - we used the full version during the challenge, each patch is like a new synth, so using the main screen on the LE version you can get a lot of sounds - the editor is a lot of work to program these synth patches, but the front panel is simple to use so you can make a lot of sounds without programming your own in the editor. It's tricky using Waverazor for every element in a track, but for some crazy hard/sharp/bright lead sounds and rhythmic patterns - it's great for those.

One Synth Challenge is also a good place to find many free synths and hear examples of what they sound like - check the list on the left:

Unique and free synth?

Sure, all synths are unique. Some are more specialized, some more versatile. But this is not about the most used, most appreciated or most versatile.

Adding some synthesizers that offer unique features and sounds to the free VSTi synth world...

U-He - Zebralette (unique DSP functions)

Yes, I just used it today, playing with Nimbus reverb.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

I love Tyrell dearly, but I don't put it nor Fury800 in the UNIQUE sound catagory. They seem like well done, basic types. But, all opinions are correct here. :)

anything else out there with VERY UNIQUE CHARACTER - not the same old Tyrells and decent enough analog clones....

Removed Fathom Mono from my system today. As well all the other free synths taking up space.
Except for Zebralette.
It still has its place for me.
