I have to buy a macbook for my mainstage setup. My old 2012 on died..

I decided on a 10th gen i5 with 16 GB and 512 GB SSD, as that is the best i can currently afford.

Just a question, how far will this take me for my occasional music production projects in Logic?

But tbh your question has no definitive answer other than "it depends".
I'd say at least as far as the old one. But you never know...

Well the old one was a dual core i5 with 8 gigs.. it handled mainstage okay.. but when using Logic with several vst’s (layered) and effects settings cpu and memory quickly run out...
forcing me to convert my midi tracks to audio every other track, so it was not really doing well...it felt like a necessary evil.

Seems the i5 barely delivers half the cpu power of a 16” i7.. but figuring out what my sweet point is can be quite hard... making a wrong choice will be painfull..

ok how much is your budget in euros/dollars/rubels/zlotti/whatever? maybe a 2nd hand or refurbished recent macbook pro is an alternative, crank up the RAM to 32 GB?
