Noise Generators

Hello, I was wondering which free vsts had noise generators for various colours of noise?
I've found Charlatan has a noise 'shape' knob which I think changes from Red to white to Blue but I haven't found the documentation to check.
It would be great if there were a vst that just generated noise and let me adjust the relationship with frequency.
Another related question - is there a filter vst that can move the filter position to the note i'm playing? many thanks in advance

At the end of the day, noise "colors" are pretty much different ways of filtering white noise.
Melda's free noise generator is pretty good and the embedded "noise equalizer" allows any kind of filtering/shaping.
https://www.meldaproduction.com/MNoiseGenerator
It acts either as a static noise source, or it has a preset which uses an envelope follower so that it becomes "playable".
About the last question, assuming you're talking about bell-shaped filters, there's this cool little plugin
https://www.filterorgan.com/
You put it on top of any kind of sound/noise, and it filters the notes you're playing. Very cool.
Listed as $39 but it's up to the user to choose if paying full price, reduced as a donation (which I think it's what I did time ago when it was announced), or nothing.

I don’t know if this is of interest

You could use it in conjunction with a synth or sample
There was a KvR one synth challenge based on it

My personal favorite is Noize 2 by Denise It works as static noise generator or adaptive to the incoming signal. I mostly use it adaptive to give hihats/shakers or complete beats more densityDeanodirector wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 11:14 am Hello, I was wondering which free vsts had noise generators for various colours of noise?

They also have a free version:

There's also CRTIV Shumovick from Voxengo, but i dont know if it can be used as static noise generator.

There are several methods of generating noise that aren't the same as filtering white noise. Clocked random values, clocked random impulses, particle noise, velvet noise, LFSR, table noise, fractal noise etc.

Can't certainly argue with that.
I might have worded it improperly, but by writing "pretty much" I was referring to the fact that noise as a textural element to enhance sound sources in synths or dedicated plugins is "predominantly" the usual white/pink/brown/violet/blue noise, unless you're into very specific/sperimental stuff in modular environments or whatever the case.

Are there plug-ins on the market doing some or all of these?

This was what I was thinking. I can easily just filter white noise but I want to find out if there's a perceivable difference, or if my effects on top sound different.

I can't find a download link for the free version - it wants me to buy noize 2audiot wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 6:52 pmMy personal favorite is Noize 2 by Denise It works as static noise generator or adaptive to the incoming signal. Oh sorry! The free version is called Noize Retro and has some limitations compared to the full version. But 29 euros for noize 2 is fair, i think.Deanodirector wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 11:00 pmI can't find a download link for the free version - it wants me to buy noize 2audiot wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 6:52 pmMy personal favorite is Noize 2 by Denise It works as static noise generator or adaptive to the incoming signal. Probably, I just don't know what aside from a few cases. I seem to recall that Audio Damage Phosphor uses LFSR noise, but not in a very flexible way. I expect Plogue Chipsounds does for some of its emulations, and Aly James' Super PSG does.ralfrobert wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:01 pm Are there plug-ins on the market doing some or all of these?
I wrote a table noise plugin myself with several algorithms but it's not "on the market" and it was kind of a mess to work with -- I don't even use it myself anymore.
Several of them can be done in modular environments... I tend to use either Eurorack hardware or Bitwig for different noise flavors. Or I just use field recordings

Falcon does. It has a fantastic noise oscillator with a great collection of noise types. But it's far away from free.CoyBarbarian wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 9:27 pmWhat VST has some of these other types?

Any software modular can make all sorts of different noises.CoyBarbarian wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 9:27 pmWhat VST has some of these other types?
I mainly use Bazille and Bitwig's modular Grid, but any software modular will do. VCV is free.

Can The Grid do velvet noise, LFSR, table noise, fractal noise? I know it has white which you could filter but not sure how you’d create the types I listed.
