Looks like Komplete 13 will be dedicated to Cinematic, Acoustic and Orchestral stuff this time.

This Kontakt instrument sounds really beautiful. Intro price: $149. Sharing this for anyone interested.

Komplete 13 ultimate is looking like it's going to be a good upgrade from normal Komplete

Sounds really nice. Just not sure how much of the music can be contributed to you and isn't prefab.

Is Komplete 13 due to be released this September? Perhaps October?

That's a handy spreadsheet, Kalamata Kid. Thank you for linking it.

It is indeed due. The typical cycle is 2 years. Komplete 12 was in Sep/Oct 2018.

Most of the new/cinematic products we are seeing will probably only be in Komplete 13 Ultimate and up though.

I'm really into cinematic and orchestral pieces myself, so this makes me excited, but I wonder how it will be perceived overall. Not even that it can't be versatile, because I think it definitely can be if you know how to use it, but I just think many people see "orchestral" and instantly push it to the side.
Take care

So for fun I took a look at the all-new spreadsheet which is here - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 1603251321 and is really good btw, if a couple of months behind. Here's what's been released since K12

Mallet Flux
Noire
Super 8
Straylight
Pharlight
Session Guitarist Picked Acoustic
Session Guitarist Electric Sunbird Deluxe
Mysteria
Stradivari Violin
Arkhis
Raum

Plus a bunch of Expansions, some Massive X expansions and 2 Kontakt Play series (Modular Icons, Lo-Fi Glow)

Most of it would seem skewed towards Ultimate, and it's a pretty nice collection there. For regular only the Super 8 and Raum (which was free) are slam dunks, though perhaps Noire and some of the expansions / Play series too. I also wonder if the Stradivari might get rolled into the Collector's Edition rather than Ultimate.

Think September is a safe-ish bet.

I am still on K11 ultimate and still don't think I will be upgrading to K13 Ultimate, sure, its all good stuff, but I have a hard drive literally full of NI ROMPLER/Kontact stuff from K12 I have never even looked at...I suppose if they are aiming at cinematic/scoring people and I think Kontact as a host is looking really dated.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

It seems it is cost effective (as a company) to throw a ton of sample content at people vs developing new sound generators or even updating Kontakt's interface and accessibility.

I do like some of the acoustic instruments they're adding though. I just with Kontakt was more accommodating to modern displays and the interface was easier to use.

As much as a NI fan by now, I was quite "meh". Nothing oustanding in the sound, just another rompler. Though I can see the direction NI chose for their products.

I liked Evolve and Thrill demos a lot, though I didn't use them over a year since I own Komplete. No need for another rompler like this.

The concept behind that interface is very interesting. The three layers, one knob to progressively add the latest two layers, etc.

So interesting I am going to replicate this structure in Ableton live using macros, groups and a touch controller for iPad (touchAble Pro).

Kontakt may appear to you as being dated but it remains an extremely powerful sampler.
