Listened to Am for a while. At some point I expected some trance beat kicking in. That's just me, generally structure in music is only meant to keep the listener's attention going through the track. Just a good idea and a good sound is not enough to storm the hit parades.

Just to clarify, these songs at the start of the reverb thread aren't representative of my best songs.

I'll just explain this comment. When i was younger i had fibromyalgia but it wasn't diagnosed. When i complained about having to do a fulltime job i was told "no excuses". So then i did a hard fulltime job and the boss was abusive but i was told "if you leave your job voluntarily then you won't be entitled to benefits". The fibromyalgia just got worse and worse until finally i went to the doctors aged 38 with a complaint of "chronic fatigue syndrome". I'd never heard of fibromyalgia.

From what I can tell, you're making some grand assumptions about the way dance music works and because of them, you've gone piling up a blind alley full-throttle.

Not really. I've been listening to dance music since 1992 and been fanatic about dance music since 1996/1997. I've listened to a lot of dance music in a lot of different subgenres. Dance music is my life. I'm not making "grand assumptions" about anything and i'm not "going up a blind alley full throttle".

Actually i'll give you a sneak preview (although i doubt you'll listen to it). This is 3 months later, and i'm on the same path i was before. It actually is dance music that a DJ would actually play in a nightclub and that people would actually dance to in a nightclub. It needs editing a bit shorter and a mixdown, that's all it needs:

Try to work out how Marcel Dettman can combine a kick with some background noise and still have something that's danceable (hint: there are tiny elements that follow the kick that make it sound as though it's bouncing in some way).

Did you actually listen to Marcel Dettman? I have, and it doesn't contain as much nuances as i think you suggesting that it does.
