VST3 is absolutely important to do and NI is very much aware of that.

I suppose one thing I would genuinely fear is that, since Brian Clevinger is not with NI anymore, that Absynth might not survive the move to ARM Mac. But, who knows.

as long as that has no bearing on the windows version, f**k it, they got alchemy :x

not that i expect any update, but if those cats drop it just because mac people cant have it! there will be no stroking behind the ears!! :x

NI is falling so far behind just about all of the advancements in modern plugins that I am starting to get used to - Fully resizable GUIs, multi-touch interfaces, MPE, VST3 versions. Like I said before, it's basically about Kontakt at this point and the million libraries for it.

Post

You'll notice that most recently released products do have resizability. VST3 obviously has to be done at some point, but it's a huge undertaking considering the sheer amount of plugins they have to do it for.

I think the issue is more about demand for Absynth. It's not the shiny new toy it used to be. However, with "cinematic" being a big thing, they might be able to rework it for that market.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Yeah Absynth totally works for that cinematic thing. My personal opinion (that unfortunately doesn't call the shots at NI :D) is that it doesn't even need new features to gain more traction - just a fresh coat of paint in a fully scalable, flat vectorized GUI style. Oh well ok, it could use some better filters too... But even if it were just a reskin (which is, again, a pretty huge effort on the scale of at least one solid year of work at the very least), I'd personally be happy.

It does, it's just fallen out of favor.

I think one of the things that hurts Absynth's popularity is that it isn't always obvious how to work things. The average user looks at the gui and says "What, no chorus, no reverb, no phaser, no flanger?" Granted, these are all things one can do in Absynth, but it isn't necessarily obvious.

Better filters wouldn't hurt either.

I still desperately wait for a Battery update but it almost looks like abandonware..

What does Battery so desperately need?

The reason I don’t use it much is because most of things that you’d want to do in a musical setting take forever (comparatively) to set up. Now, if I needed to make realistic bird calls for some reason it would be the first place I’d go. I use the Multi FX version sometimes but there are so many faster synths for my musical purposes.

Good question.

In place audition of samples like Battery 3
Prev/next sample on cells like Battery 3
Non destructive Fade in/out for samples
Simple way to make a cell full pitch range like Maschine.
Cells are not auto selected and shown when you hit the notes.
Faster load time.
Expansions are not labeled but a big single list. Can not select a specific expansion unless you memorize the weird names and write to search area.

That's about it for me.
