It's just repetitive behavior disguised to appear like a sale so he could do the same exact thing next week.
Its been suggested to have a separate sticky thread for Bargain: Presets Only Thread. That way, those who like preset bargains can get their goods in a dedicated thread. The preset sellers who normally are independent (not 3rd party vendors, not larger companies) have a space to post day in day out if they want, without getting thumbed down because they are no longer spamming/clogging/diluting our dear Bargains Only thread. Its actually quite simple and would appear to work for everyone. It feels more optimised to most needs, perhaps a poll can sort the weight of that out?

How is it punishing them to give them a place where they know their content will be welcomed?ATS wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:58 pm I don't think all should be punished because some are spamming so much.

I welcome it here. I want to see all the deals here.

I wouldn’t mind seeing them moved into a different thread. Maybe there should be a poll.

Thats perfectly fine that you welcome it here and are not bothered by needing to 'foe' individuals or just look past the deal and not make a fuss out of this. The thing is, I believe a lot of us probably do mind them being here and we would prefer the preset hunters to have their own dedicated thread so they can really take off without discrimination
The point is, just because it works for you doesnt mean everyone else should put up with it, I guess its a question of numbers, a vote can decide no?
Btw, as mentioned, how is this punishing them? If anything it gives them a platform.
One of my main issues with the few who 'spam' (using this lightly, no one has been aggressive) is that they are doing it more for brand awareness, the discount is petty a lot of the time, not a real bargain. So the argument is, they are diluting and taking advantage of one thing in order to promote another, just give a different thread for that and let them run wild. If you enjoy that stuff you'll likely get plenty of it there!

You do. Others don't. It's trivial for people who are interested in both to subscribe to both threads. It's impossible for people who are only interested in one or the other to avoid the things they don't want if they're combined into one thread.
I recognize there's a point of diminishing returns with that logic - it'd be nuts to start creating multiple threads for "amp sim deals" or "Protools-only deals" or whatever. But there does seem to be a pretty clear line between "software" and "preset/sample packs", and more importantly a pretty clear non-overlapping set of people who are interested in those two things.

I'd prefer the preset vendors to have their own thread. I NEVER buy presets and never plan to. I do however have to read their frequent posts and would rather not have to. Having dedicated threads is what forums are all about as relevance is everything for targeting the correct markets without pissing off others unnecessarily. We have the technology, let's use it.
For those who wish to receive preset offers please subscribe to the dedicated thread for it.
Moderators, please take this for action. I think we're on the 7th time this topic has come up. It's time to get this one resolved.

I would petition for a separate discussion thread where people can ponder the need for a seperate bargain thread.

Looking back at page 1 of this very topic, it seems like similar discussions were had (in 2009!) about the split of the original Bargains thread into NO CHAT and Chat threads. It also seems like it was more or less done because people agreed it was right/necessary, and not by fiat from the Moderators. So I think all that would be needed here is:
1. Someone to create a "Preset Packs Sales and Announcements" thread
2. Some mod to Pin it
3. Meffy to possibly change the topic and first posting on the NO CHAT thread to reference the new thread
4. Group members to police it with gentle reminders as they do today to keep chat out of the NO CHAT thread
I'm happy to do #1, as could anyone else. My only question is whether it should be "preset packs and sample sets" or whether we're strictly looking to fork off VST-specific preset vendors.

I kind of feel sorry for the portion of preset floggers who aren’t spammy weapons, but at the end of the day they do kind of clog things up plus you see SYNTH X £££cheap and then realise it’s just a preset pack for SYNTH X and you’ve been rickrolled by a preset-monger once more.

I'm mildly in favor of forking off (sounds a little Good Place dirty though) VST-Specific vendors. What is meant by "sample packs" though? There are a lot of companies selling, e.g., really cool Kontakt sample instruments. I'm assuming we aren't forking them off too, or am I confused about what a sample pack is supposed to be?Ceej wrote: Fri Sep 11, 2020 12:46 am Looking back at page 1 of this very topic, it seems like similar discussions were had (in 2009!) about the split of the original Bargains thread into NO CHAT and Chat threads. The sample pack sellers are the same thing to me and they should be lumped in with the preset boys.

I was thinking of places that sell strictly loop libraries and the like. But, I admit that's a little fuzzy, to say the least. Plus there aren't nearly as many of them so it's probably not worth trying to figure out where to draw the line between "sample packs" and "Kontakt libraries with lots of interesting scripting" and so on.megadude wrote: Fri Sep 11, 2020 12:56 am I'm mildly in favor of forking off (sounds a little Good Place dirty though) VST-Specific vendors. For me, Kontakt libraries should be here and in the main no chat thread. They're fine. In fact, they're an instrument and just like effect plugins why I'm here.
I'm mostly not wanting to see any preset pak offers anymore. As for loop libraries.. undecided. I mostly don't care either way but I do buy those at times and don't mind seeing those here. Such as Samples from Mars, etc. In fact there are a lot of great sample shops out there that are great values for our main thread I believe.
