Hi
Please can you assist me with recreating this sound at 3:50. Not the bass stab, it's the sound that is modulated, like a pitch bend/glide?
Thanks so much

Didn't try to nail it here because every little tweak affects the sound quite a bit.
It boils down to:
Use about 15-20ms glide.
little bit of resonance going into a bit of distortion. Adjust filter envelope to taste.
It's a wide sound so use unison and set detune to taste.
It's not the filter amount but the cut-off that goes up a bit with the higher notes (keytrack didn't work for me) Use automation for that.

Kiasmos is a "side project" of Nils Frahm. Worth checking out.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nils_Frahm
Originally a pianist, his electronic music relies heavily on analog gear. Especially his use of the Roland Juno 60 and the Roland Space Echo.
Also check out Olafur Arnalds and their cooperations.
[EDIT]
Whoops. My bad. Kiasmos is the "side project" of Nils Frahm's musical soulmate Olafur Arnalds, who is also a fan of analog (and electro/acoustic) gear like the Juno 60 and the Space Echo.

Kiasmos is started by Janus Rassmussen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PU6pmYPS8E8) and Olafur Arnalds. Nils Frahm has very little to with Kiasmos other than being good mates with Olafur and playing together live maybe once or twice haha. But yes Nils Frahm is awesome too.

CHOOS you are a sound design super hero. Amazing! Thanks so much!! I bought Serum but I think I'm going to start using Charlatan to follow your sound design directly and perhaps it can do things Serum can't. Eg. I don't know how to adjust glide in SerumCHOOS wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 5:26 pm Didn't try to nail it here because every little tweak affects the sound quite a bit.

You can definitely do it in serum. No need for charlatan if you have it (I just don't)
What an awesome track by the way

Thanks! I'm struggling to get the same bouncy sound as Charlatan. What does the Q and Mod knobs represent in Serum? When you turn the Mod up it makes the sound bounce. What's happening there?CHOOS wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 1:10 pm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7zS5yELsfw

PS. CHOOS, why not start posting your tuts to Patreon? 1 dollar per month subscription. A few Patreon subs and you can fund Serum and Diva on a rent to own plan. I rented to own from Splice

Man I wish I'd have enough "followers" or whatever that's called on patreon.
I've only recently started uploading remakes on youtube explaining how I go about making the tracks and then asking for a donation of $5 to share the project but all is shown how to in the video.
Also if someone is broke and they ask me for it i do share it for free.
I say that in the description on the video.
I think a great idea would be for an artist to sell the full track including midi/stems/presets etc and showing the processing of the song for $$$ (I'd gladly pay $10-$25 for some of my favorite tracks to see exactly how it was done)

Yeah that;ll be great to look under the hood of your favourite tracks. Perhaps in the near future a company will offer that.CHOOS wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 3:35 pm Man I wish I'd have enough "followers" or whatever that's called on patreon.

You can setup a Patreon account in the interim and share the link with people you help here. I'll gladly pay $3 per month. A few users and you can purchase Serum on rent to own and you'll get far more traction on your videos for Youtube and your audience will grow. Start small, you don't need a big community

You'll need to share your vids on Serum or Diva to get the keyword traction though

Yeah. I mixed up Kiasmos (Olafur Arnalds) and Nonkeen (Nils Frahm). And confused things further by focusing on their collaboration.TwinkleToes wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 10:52 am Kiasmos is started by Janus Rassmussen and Olafur Arnalds.
