Last week I have found on vstplanet this interesting tool: http://www.chordpulse.com/

I've downloaded the light version and I've played with it for half an hour.
I've found it very interesting, but, sadly, it is not a VST.
I've sent an e-mail to the developer asking if he's going to release a VST version and he answered that he will take the idea into consideration.
I think it would be very interesting ( if possible ) to be able to drive external VSTi with this software. In this way, you would be able to assign your fav instrument to every part ( piano, drums, bass... ).

What do you think about it ?

Is there a VST like that, possibly free ?

There is a product call Jammer that has this. It's a program but can be synced to midi from other software. Or you can move the midi files to other software when you are done.

You can start off with chord progressions and choose a style, or you can give it a melody and it will arrange it for you and so on.

Chordpulse would be awesome as a vst for jamming along with ezdrummer and so on. Surprised there is no vst version yet.

Isn't this essentially a lite version of Band in a Box?

I purchased ChordPulse about a year ago and find it to be a very handy app. It is kind of a lite Band in the Box.
It's really nice for working out guitar parts before going to your DAW as it, loads fast, is extremely quick and easy to create or modify progressions or change styles. It also outputs multitrack midi files that are easily imported into your DAW.

I had a copy of BITB years ago and found it painful to work with and the results mostly unusable. At under 25 bucks ChordPulse may be the best metronome ever.

Very good app but sadly I can't find how identify the scale, there is (key +1 +2 +3), but I do not understand what that mean, i know only the classic name (C, C min, D, D min...)
I did not buy it just because of this detail :(

I own it but haven't touched it in a couple years. Thanks for pointing it out, there was an update in September, I'll go check it out now.

That is for transposing the whole song's key (By half steps +/-), and if you want the transposed chords that are sharps/flats to be displayed as sharps or flats, ie a c sharp is a d flat.

Personally I wish it would label if something is a I, II, II, IV etc, that is more helpful I think.
