Hey there friends,

I would like to ask for your help with designing the PPG choir Style sound from Alphaville's Forever Young track ( The sound that appears when the brass pad filter opens up right at the beginning of the track - couple of first seconds), from a small research I did I found that it came from the PPG Wave table synthesizer, i have it's plugin but I couldn't program it to sound right...

Attaching the track and timestamp :

Any advice will be appreciated!
Thank you and have a great day.

I can't help with that specific PPG wavetable / sound.

But I will say that Wolfgang Palm's fantastic PPG Phonem will get you in the same ball park, and it has a lot of other great ideas to explore as well:

I believe that Plugin Alliance are shortly to start reselling this (and other software by Wolfgang) following his collaboration / sale to them earlier this year.

I have one and I´d say it with the Beatles: Let it be.

You´re right - it sounds like a PPG - but it is a unique Sound and might also be a well made Sample Construction.

Don´t try to get close, it´d take too long. Be creative.

VOX is my Focus btw ;-)

The PPG was capable of processing sampled material. It’s entirely possible that the sound in question is based on Marian’s voice or something. Unless there is a factory patch which matches that sound, which I’ve never heard, you’re probably out of luck.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
