I'm looking for something like this.
- retina/hidpi ready
- supports macOS / AU plugins
- lightweight, not something giant like DDMF
- pretty

i'd pay money for Waves StudioRack if it supported 3rd party plugs. it's damn perfect.

not lightweight ? ddmf is pretty complete ... the gui is not perfect but it work.
Elements is, i think a ddmf clone, but with an other GUI.

Been a Kushview User since Element 3.1 now & can recommend to give it a try, yet this one might not really be what you asked for, so PatchWork might be the one to go. Element is indeed a useful Tool and the Developer is also pretty active and responsive, also for suggestions. It might be (non confirmed) that LUA - scripting will be implemented in one of the next Versions, which would be neat.

Maybe This one?
it's not retina ready - tried it and didn't click with it.

kushview somehow flew under my radar

i'll give it a spin. I liked New Sonic Arts Freestyle but it doesn't host AU and it's just too much of a bother.

if you want something simple go for ddmf metaplugin.

Yes, the Element is not really quick & easy to figure out. also not really what you originally asked for @Ploki & I always forget about retina readiness. Maybe this one could also work, but more a kind of a guess: https://nugenaudio.com/sigmod

i have sigmod :/

i kinda want exactly StudioRack but with 3rd party support

giving Element a testride now. Metaplugin doesn't have macros IIRC.

New Sonic Arts doesn't support AU's only VSTs and i tested it and it crashed on me as soon as i opened first Softube VST (i'd rather avoid using VST's anyway)

Element also doesn't support macros

It does seem like a more complicated task, indeed. And Studio Rack was a pretty awesome Release from them (unfortunately tied to their eco-system).

This might come in one of the next Updates though:
Multiparm control is coming within the next few releases. It'll come in the form of "Macro" parameters which will extend to the performance parameters. Thank you for your feedback.
