Good topic.
SKnote boasts a physically modelled cab in at least one of their products but I don't see a demo and haven't used it yet: https://www.sknoteaudio.com/wp/index.ph ... amplifier/
Swanky Amp seems to have some attention to detail paid to the cab design but I've yet to try it and haven't kept up with the thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=545175
I've recently been wondering if "Reverberate 3" by Liquid Sonics might offer options that breathe some life into static IRs: https://www.liquidsonics.com/software/reverberate-3/
My current solution is to use 2CAudio's "Precedence" right after the convolution plugin with the cab IR: https://www.2caudio.com/products/precedence#_Overview - followed by further processing.
I'd love to find a good cab emulation - especially for 10" and 15" single speaker enclosures.

I've been very impressed with MCabinet, which lets you sample IRs to make custom resonators, combine these with new randomised resonators and add EQ all in one place. By sampling multiple microphone positions you can get a resonator with the general character of a particular cabinet, and then reshape the overall frequency response. I've loaded a bunch of IR packs into it, and tagged the resulting resonators for easy search.
It's great to have this independent control of the characteristic notches of particular cabinets vs the overall filtering effect.

I've been really knocked out by the Two Notes cabs, which can be demo'd in real time (!!!) or purchased through the Wall of Sound plugin.
https://www.two-notes.com/wall-of-sound
It's a proprietary format, so you need Two Notes hardware or software to run them. To me, there's a consistently 3-D depth to the cabs that I haven't really found in other brands.
I'm not a huge IR guy, but I've used York, Ownhammer, Kazrog, Dr. Bonkers, Live Ready Sound, Lancaster, and many others. They all have great-sounding IRs. But, for me, the Two Notes stuff is a notch above them all in terms of realism. YMMV, of course!

Check the MIKKO-Plugin: https://ml-sound-lab.com/collections/plugins
He's also worked with NeuralDSP and really knows what he's doing when it comes to Cabs. MIKKO Essentials would be on sale right now. I've never touched single IR's again after getting MIKKO (except when playing around with STL Tones Libra and my IR-Collection ).

+1 for Two Notes Wall of Sound.
The cabs sound great, you can preview them for free and they're only €10 each when you decide what you like

Mcabinet here too. I just prefer the workflow than typical ir plugins. Much faster to find a sweet spot for an amp and to compare variations...

Quite like Mikko so far impulse wise, will check out Mcabinet. If we have any more standalone cab sims fill me in. Id love to find an interesting modelled one instead of impulses, but please fill me in on your guys favorites modelled or not, Standalone, Ir or filter based.

Downloaded Mikko tonight (to try with Swanky) - I like it, but I wish the vintage-style Marshall/Greenback cab was available outside the $99 essentials pack. I use that kind of cabinet with every amp so it's really the only one I need of all the cabs available in that pack.

Try Wall of Sound then - you'll get a greenback cab (I'm pretty sure) for free - and then all cabs are €10 each - so you can try whatever you like. I'd recommend trying the new Victory cabs
The plugin is free with two cabs and then you can try the rest to see what you like (there are >300).

Mikko looks good but the marketing for Wall of Sound is very impressive; like loudspeaker porn. Really nice looking and massive gallery. Might have to invest there as a stop-gap before we get some serious physical models.
I wouldn't mind bouncing through a physical model offline. An IR could be provided for tracking and then printed after editing. Even if it soaks up several minutes rendering time, I'd be happy.

That's what I've used in the past, definitely a good deal and excellent if you might get one of their hardware bits.jbraner wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 8:26 am Try Wall of Sound then - you'll get a greenback cab (I'm pretty sure) for free - and then all cabs are €10 each - so you can try whatever you like. I need to install it on this new computer and remember how to disable all the add-ons I don't like (EQs and power amp stuff IIRC).
