The bass is the part of this track that stands out for me. Great sound. The vocals sound like Joy Division to me (although I have not really listened to them much). I would like the guitar to be a bit louder for impact when there is no singing. Also the singing could be a bit louder. Nice drums too. Well done!

Thanks man. It’s a bit of a tightrope act to mix it and avoid peaking. I’m using Gatekeeper on the guitar to impose rhythm patterns which inevitably makes the guitar quieter overall, but it can cause issues louder, same with the vocals which can take away from the bass and drums and as it’s kind of a dance track I wanted them to dominate. I tried using a limiter, but the end result sounded worse to me. Any ideas?

I'm no expert. I just use automation in Logic to make adjustments to just about everything. It allows me to fine tune levels etc. all through the track so it sounds good.

Yeah I did the same in Reaper, maybe my ear needs work.

I find that I need to leave things for another day several times so my ears can have a rest. Also, try different speakers when you think you are finished.
