The upgrade price seems to be $ 39 (or net even less), most reasonable for me, in the case os AAS.Harry_HH wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 9:03 pmOn the other hand - AAS is one of the few companies in this industry, that I feel great sympathy with. Lately they haven’t had any major launches, and the Chromaphone 3 seems to one. AAS is a small company with good products. I own all of their software, plus a bunch of expansions.gondii wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 8:27 pmThat is exactly how I feel.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 8:03 pm I think $49 is my max for an upgrade for that, nothing too compelling. Bi-timbral/multi-timbral is pretty pointless in a soft synth and only really of interest to preset peddlers. The sound source mix and match gives a few more options, but I was really hoping for some interesting bowing options.
Every developer needs resources to keep up the company economically.
Therefore I may redeem the Chromaphone 3 with the price asked.

Guys, I think we all need to be a bit more masculine, a bit more manly, just like psynical.

Won't be getting it from JRR, my browser won't let me near their site anymore.
Theyve lost out on so many sales from me this year but also saved me money. Being blocked from their site is that little reminder I need sometimes to hang on to my hard earned dough for real life.

JRR Shop jumping the gun on Chromaphone 3 before AAS has officially released it on their site is poor business practice and that's the sort of thing that can lead to a company black-listing a reseller.

So $39 for the update from Chromophone 2 to 3, but I can't really see any difference other than a GUI refresh?

I'd still wait for the official announcement - in the past, AAS often bundled a new soundset with the update...
I agree, it's really sad that they seem to be unable to push the underlying technique forward more, instead of just working on GUI, sounds and some small improvements. But since they still have some of the best physical instruments in existence, what can we do...
Especially Chromaphone is one of my all time favourites.
And the new GUI looks at least better than the previous round, although I still liked the Chromaphone 1 GUI the most...
Cheers,
Tom

I have been meaning to investigate ‘non standard’ scale systems and the Scala support this version brings could tip me into it. I think it could be easier to get a handle on starting with a source that’s not primarily melodic.

I was hoping, that the latest version of the whole AAS instrument product line, i.e. ”doubling” just the sound source, was an interphase in their product development.ThomasHelzle wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 11:48 am I'd still wait for the official announcement - in the past, AAS often bundled a new soundset with the update...

And if they had time and money, we’ll see some in future some real innivations in the area of sound modelling, modulation and effects.

It's not only JRR, I guess there was some miscommunication on the distributor's side:WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 10:16 am JRR Shop jumping the gun on Chromaphone 3 before AAS has officially released it on their site is poor business practice and that's the sort of thing that can lead to a company black-listing a reseller.

I bought the upgrade from JRR and added it to my AAS account no problem.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 10:16 am JRR Shop jumping the gun on Chromaphone 3 before AAS has officially released it on their site is poor business practice and that's the sort of thing that can lead to a company black-listing a reseller.
Shows Chromaphone 3 In my account with a download link, I’m on my phone so haven’t downloaded yet.
Did you try to register or is this speculation?

It's now also shown on their homepage. So today is the release date, they just updated their page later.simmo75 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 1:54 pmI bought the upgrade from JRR and added it to my AAS account no problem.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 10:16 am JRR Shop jumping the gun on Chromaphone 3 before AAS has officially released it on their site is poor business practice and that's the sort of thing that can lead to a company black-listing a reseller.
