Probably. But on the other hand it's Halloween after all. So PA might trick us. Or not. They could hand out treats as well, no?Insanelysane wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:20 am (until its not, likely renew on last day 31st, am I right?)

Seems to work. I just purchased Neold V76U73 without any problems.Insanelysane wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:20 amThe voucher is one time use only (until its not, likely renew on last day 31st, am I right?) and while it excludes most of the new plugins it should work for NEOLDV76U73 and ENGL Savage 120 which I had my eye on. Demoing now..

My friend says it is not worth it, you already have better/similar plugins. Save your 30 bucks for something else, after all it's that time of the year...martinjuenke wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 10:33 amIs it good and worth it?itanever wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:57 amSeems to work. 1. I never used Classic Clipper but doesn't appear to be a comparison due to the Inflator having different stuff going on under the hood - it is a loudness maximiser but also affects transients, has a curve fader for brighter/darker shaping which I believe is different to the clipper. I have used the Black Box and no I would say they are very different, Black Box was just adding fatness/low end but to me was quite obvious and hard to control against the output, Inflator feels like a 'betterizer' and can be subtle, the control is there so you dont go out of hand. Its really hard to explain the Inflator when you slap it on a source and just gently introduce it, there is definitely an impression of it having 'bigness' and being more forward (again, a transient thing seems to be happening as well as loudness). Best thing to do is demo it to see if it works for you.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 4:21 am @Insanelysane and @Aiynzahev: Thanks for the heads-up on the Sonnox sale.![]()
A few questions regarding Oxford Inflator if someone can help:
1. Can it be compared to T-RackS Classic Clipper or Black Box Analog Design HG-2?
2. Does it work in FL Studio? I could demo it, but I am away from my studio PC until night.
3. iLok USB dongle is not mandatory, right?
Thanks!![]()
2. Dont imagine there would be an issue? in fact I have used it in FL Studio before I think, its not my primary DAW these days so dont know but I'm sure it would be reported on forums if not.
3. Dongle is an issue - its either Dongle use or Cloud, neither is ideal. This is the only downside to this plugin.

Neold got some good reviews and some less impressive ones from some users. Since I had the UAD V76 I didn't want to buy Neold, but if you haven't had this monster mic pre its got a fantastic forward full sound. What plugins would one have that are 'better/similar' when it comes to its punchy utility? the issue people had with Neold had to do with no control over the compressor part of the plugin, no way to separate it or control it, which limited its otherwise good use. The dev did mention future updates to give control over the V76 and U73 components. If thats at all an issue you should just wait for PA quarterly sale sometime when its updated, value wise it'll likely stick to the $29 ballpark like they all do..LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 10:54 amMy friend says it is not worth it, you already have better/similar plugins. Regarding 1 (and 2), yes, I definitely need to demo and compare. But I have seen practical uses of Inflator in Hyperbits' music production tutorials where he uses it on almost everything and I was pretty impressed with it. While I am not into EDM stuff, I mention his name because his mixes sound clear and awesome to me.
Regarding 3, yes, I like to avoid iLok based plugins, mainly because of high license transfer fees. And to make it worse in case of Sonnox, there is an additional 25 GBP on top. So I agree with that you said earlier, buy it only if absolutely sure, which means demo it before buying, and if you buy it, reselling it is almost impossible. But damn, at $35 it is getting irresistible. Next steps: demo and compare.

So, I did not realize when I typed the above comment that Inflator needs "iLok Cloud" licensing which needs us to be always connected. While my PC is connected to internet, this can be a PITA because I prefer working on music offline.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 12:00 pmThanks for the explanation, appreciate it.Insanelysane wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 11:19 am1. I am demoing it right now and it sounds great, but I think I will have to skip it mainly for the licensing system. Classic Clipper seems to be doing a similar thing based on what I am hearing and HG-2 will help with tube saturation and harmonics. Both not as sweet as Inflator, but probably good enough to get the job done.

I don't want to be an enabler for plug-in hoarding, but at this price it's a super useful one to have in your folder. It's the kind of plugin you can just use all the time as you can use it on everything to varying amounts without really paying a penalty.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 4:21 am @Insanelysane and @Aiynzahev: Thanks for the heads-up on the Sonnox sale.![]()

It does cloud though right? I use it without the physical ilok key.
Edit, clearly I wasn't reading all the previous posts!
