Is The Dark Zebra worth it?

I currently own Zebra 2.9 but saw a video today that made my "wallet tingling" that I should get The Dark Zebra, too. It's EUR 99.

As far as I understand, owning The Dark Zebra means I'd get Zebra 3 for free, but as Urs also said there's not gonna be The Dark Zebra v3, so in some sense I'll get the new plugin with new stuff, but for The Dark Zebra additions I'll have to use the 2.9, too. And on top of that, upgrade from regular 2.9 to 3.0 will likely be half the price The Dark Zebra is.

So the question is - is The Dark Zebra worth the extra say EUR 50?

Absoulutely freaking yes!

I got it, and it is cool--nice to analyze the presets. But I don't use it much. Of course, if Zebra 3 comes out, it would be worth it there. As it is, in retrospect, I would rather have used the Dark Zebra money toward getting Dune 3.

Edit: I do use Zebra 2 a lot.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

you get Zebra 3 for free if you buy dark zebra. the update is included in the price.

Dark Zebra is a lovely addition to (normal) Zebra.
Of course, you will know better than us how much you like and use (normal) Zebra now compared to your other synths. On that basis, Dark Zebra might well be worth the extra monetary outlay to you.
For me, Dark Zebra was well worth it.

Too bad zebra’s diva filters don’t do fm ,otherwise I would go for it ( don’t care about the presets)
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

You should have asked after the purchase and in that case you would have never asked the question due to the obvious answer
MuLab-Reaper of course :D

I said so in my post. The issue is Zebra 3 update will probably be EUR 50 or less and v3 won't have The Dark Zebra additions, so it's a bit like 2 separate plugins.

Beautiful presets in that video...
Except for Diva-filters, what is the differences between Dark Zebra and the original one?

How do you know a dark zebra is not a horse? 8)

From the comments under the YT video:

"When Zebra3 comes out, there'll be some kind of "Zebra Legacy Edition" which will combine everything Zebra2 & TDZ and which will be sold and maintained seperately."

"People with Zebra2 + TDZ will get a free update. But as I said many times, I need 6+ consecutive months without interruption to bring the project forward. This hasn't happened this year (partly due to the pandemic), but we're doing everything we can to get there next year."
