where did the developer go? gone with the wind after gentle divider not so gently divided CA2600 into 100 pizza slices?
they did almost everything right. price / quality ratio good. they could take it down a notch on hype flatulenza, though.

I like CA2600 so far. I don't have another ARP 2600 clone to test it against but I do have a synth with a saw wave and a filter, so here's CA2600 vs Anacreon:
I can see right away that CA2600 does not peak at 4K; it looks like it has one low but normal peak at 5K and that strange one at 6K. I don't know what's going on but one thing I can tell you for sure regardless of the synth: I do not like the sound of a saw wave with 80% resonant filtering at 4K. Kinda feels like we're doing a taste test of dog poop vs cat poop.
By the way, where is the selector for 4-pole filtering in CA2600? It's been mentioned as something to choose but I can't find it.

Do you mean the relative flatness of gentleclockdivider's spectrum compared to the other two? That would be due to the resolution of the spectrum analyzer, I think. Look back a couple of pages to where gentleclockdivider showed a comparison of the spectrum analyzer's output at various block sizes. At a block size of 2048, the FFT only has a resolution of about 24Hz at a sample rate of 48kHz, so there is significant smoothing of the spectrum.

Cherry audio dev’s are not present on this forum , cherrry dave is just the spokesman .
He told me he didn’t knew anything about the inner workings of the filter and would pass it on to the dev. team, haven’t heard anything since then.

It's the "SLOPE" selector, right next to the cutoff and resonance faderspough wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 9:22 pm By the way, where is the selector for 4-pole filtering in CA2600? It's been mentioned as something to choose but I can't find it.
4-pole is the 24dB/oct
2-pole is the 12dB/oct

well, as the saying goes, "call it what you want as long as you don't put it in the oven".Cherry audio dev’s are not present on this forum , cherrry dave is just the spokesman.
point is, they were quick to hype this emulation as bestest and accuratest, they're not as quick on answering questions and concerns being raised.

Actually I tried some more and now I agree, but the spectrum isn't the best to show it. The waveform reveals it better. A rect needs to ring out with the resonance frequency shortly before self oscillation starts. The CA2600 has a constant pitch there, not a nice logarithmic release...gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 7:48 pm Images of arturia and timewarp posted by a user from cherry audio forum
first Arturia, second CA2600

It,s not whether you like the sound of a 4 khz sawpough wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 9:22 pmBy the way, where is the selector for 4-pole filtering in CA2600? It's been mentioned as something to choose but I can't find it.
You're already using the 4pole filter if you see that fake reso spike , it's not there in the 2p

I bought this because of your video. Hope I can get it hooked up in Ableton Live at some point.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 8:11 pm In case folks haven't seen, there are some videos on the Cherry Audio YT site - particularly like this one demoing how to use the plugin as an audio filter to get the "Who Are You" wobbly synth guitar sound

I have no problem to be proven wrong...gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 7:14 pm As I have written from the verry beginning , the 4 pole is just the 2pole in series ,some real resonance + ofsetted sine peak with no fall off ..starting from 70 %
I am just wondering , is this also happening in their voltage modular synth voice arp 2600 module ?

Btw. Another good test is to use a single impulse as input and route it to the filter. The higher you set the resonance it should start to ring more and more.
Arturia sounds like I would expect it, but CA just jumps into a switched on sine at 70% - Arturia reaches the self oscillation at 99%... The high resonance areas of the filter are completely useless...

Ah but sine waves, mate, all is lost.

We can debate whether a certain filter needs an impulse in order to self oscillate , obviously the CA 2600 does it instantly , but this could be because of modelled background noise etc..( whcih we now know for sure it is not )Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 10:49 pmI have no problem to be proven wrong...gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 7:14 pm As I have written from the verry beginning , the 4 pole is just the 2pole in series ,some real resonance + ofsetted sine peak with no fall off ..starting from 70 %

In the end all you will see is a sine wave and this could well be the self oscillating filter ad not the fake sine osc .
What sealed the deal for me what the abscensce of the fall off .in the (fake) reso peak

Thank you. I hadn't realized that 4-pole and 24dB/oct were two different terms for the same thing.Niowiad wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 9:37 pm It's the "SLOPE" selector, right next to the cutoff and resonance faders
