I’ve signed up for the upgrade and the beta so if I get the beta then I’ll live with the new stuff for a few months and see if the additions are worthwhile enough to spend £143 when the time comes.

MPE, true multi-clip MIDI editing, multi-lane comping. I think that's worth an upgrade. It still a couple of months away from release. Time for some of the other popular requests. I have the beta, it's impressive.

Actually I can't care less about gapless audioozinga wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 7:00 pmForget about gapless audio. I saw users in Steinberg forum that are very happy with the gaps, they defend it and against for a fix because they say it is normal. Fanboyism on another level.pixel85 wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 12:13 pm
So, expect it half-baked for a few Cubase versions or even unusable because lack of gapless playback and other performance quirks that Cubase can't get rid of for years
For me they have more important features to add/fix than pretending to be another Live.
Btw. I can imagine that Clip Launcher is the most used feature in DP now![]()
And now look, Cubase still have years old issues with audio engine (luckily none are affecting me). When they will mess up with audio engine again, they may break it even more, leaving tons of old bugs + new gap-more issues

Because there are thousands who think by downloading FL or Live and a bunch of sample and chord packs they will be the next big Trap or EDM producer without having any idea about music because their heroes use these (who can do their magic on any DAW) and show it is so easy to do on youtube and they fall for it and in no time they defend these programs like crazy but in reality do not now how to use 10 percent of them but they are just made believe that these are the hottest DAWs around. The rest is for grandpaspixel85 wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 4:18 pm
As much as it's funny, many still perceive DAWs from such perspective. There's only ongoing war Ableton/FL as the best DAW eva. Other DAWs are for weirdos/grandpas/perverts![]()

Aye, this. The mentality of: 'Need to write a big hit immediately with no work, understanding or experience involved, to make money'. Or go on Love Island as a Plan B.andypryce wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 8:15 pmBecause there are thousands who think by downloading FL or Live and a bunch of sample and chord packs they will be the next big Trap or EDM producer without having any idea about music because their heroes use these (who can do their magic on any DAW) and show it is so easy to do on youtube and they fall for it and in no time they defend these programs like crazy but in reality do not now how to use 10 percent of them but they are just made believe that these are the hottest DAWs around. The practicalities these days are that there is no money to be made in music. Even superstar DJs seem to be a dying breed. My perspective is that making music is just a hell of a lot of fun

Adding the fact that social media (even FB for boomers) are occupied by kids which are below the required age to use any social media service... They're the most vocal part. This is the only reason why I'm on some groups for Ableton and EDM (hidden under "music producers" names) : questions and answers are in 99% golden. It's like watching Borat but for audio people.leeleema wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 8:20 pmAye, this. How to make music in 2020: watch random dude on YouTube. If someone is doing tutorial on YT it means he's a Pro. Use Splice or other service with loops, not just drums but melody loops to no need to do melody. If you're hardcore and you want to make your own melody: use plugin that generates melody for you or tools which block possibility to click on a note out of selected scale.
Use mouse to make melody. Midi keyboard is for pervs and it's used to play piano like old people do. Blah!
Master your kick and vocal.
Sidechain EVERYTHING.
HPF on EVERYTHING.
Use Ozone preset to do mastering.
And this is the current target for DAW developers. Theyand their parents credit cards.
Not +30-smtg half dead rotten grandpas who have to think hard if they should update DAW or pay one of many debts
Anyway... back to Live 11...

I mean all of the mixing stuff and certainly mastering, that comes fairly far down the line I think. Very important to some of us, but not for people starting out aka people who havn't got a clue. Way after music theory, track structure, arrangement etc. Not knocking them, we've all been there, just that there seems to be a massive mismatch between the marketing for what people think they need at the start of their 'journey' and when they might actually need it after the groundwork and let's face it, time has been put in

ProTools for grandpas?
ProTools for recording studios. Doesn't matter the age of the producer (my band's last was just under 30). Just the lack of comping alone made other DAWs useless in comparison, and bedroom producers sound like kids who don't understand why a roofer is driving around with a Ford F150 when he could have a Prius. Different markets.

Thanks elxsound. I've signed up for the beta and pre-ordered. If Live 11 doesn't work well on Win 8.1 I'll probably upgrade to Win 10 ... been putting it off since 2016.elxsound wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 5:55 amThe only issue that I know of with regards to the earlier versions of OS (both Mac and Win) is that they are officially not supported. So if you do run into an issue, don't expect a bug fix to be released that would remedy it. With this in mind... approach new releases with some caution.thecontrolcentre wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 1:28 amCool. Thanks for that SharksFin. Made my dayI'm running the beta in windows 8.1![]()

Has anyone else had problems with the browser-based authorisation? I wound up having to do an offline authorisation on my new PC yesterday, and I'm now putting it on my actual studio DAW and once again the browser just wont open Live.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Maybe you didn't allow the connection to Live the last time.

Muahaha, you made my day. Thanks mate!GNXT wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 4:05 pm Ableton is the best DAW obviously, Bitwig for weirdos and outsiders, Reaper for geeks and waste timers, Logic for apple wasting money fun boys, Pro Tools for grandpa's, Cubase for European grandpa's, Reason for childish grandpa's, FL for FL Gang, Studio One for middle aged undeceive people.![]()
As mixing is overrated, mastering is dead why spend more money, recording is the round button on the DAW's, Studio's are grandpa's antique storage room, mics are built-in in our Mac's and iPhones.![]()

So i had 11 Beta today, played with it for about 45mins and sadly i'm already bored. This to me seems like others have said more of a 10.5 update, i will just add to that: with a few bits from the proper 11 version.
Except comping and a few cool new devices nothing else really excites me, i should add that i like the tiny GUI changes, i hate the wasted space on the left of the piano roll, and i hope they will add some more features soon.
I already pre-ordered, as Ableton and i go really back, it's just becoming more of a long-distance relationship thing.
