Let's be honest here you could say the same thing for the two you mentioned, Richie Sambura and Tony Iommi. Like I said ask the average hard rock/metal listener if they've ever heard of the three and I'm willing to bet more people have heard of EVH.

I can honestly say I've listened to a lot of Van Halen and Black Sabbath and own several of their albums but don't give "two shits" about Richie Sambura or Bon Jovi. I'd much rather see Randy Rhoads and/or Zakk Wylde collections.
I accept my opinion is not popular. It is what it is. Just an opinion.

The point of my post is not that VH were a bad band or made bad music. My point was they were pretty much irrelevant and forgotten until EVH recently died. Heavy metal and Rock has moved on light years since the last time VH were relevant in the genre.

Total # of records released since Hagar left. Name my one song you know and remember from "A Different Kind of Truth"? Did you even buy it and listen to it? ;-)
OU812 (1988)
For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991)
Balance (1995)
Van Halen III (1998)
A Different Kind of Truth (2012)
My issue with the artist name branded products is they just come across as a little clingy.

I am pretty sure the Prince estate will give their permission. They willing to sell everything he ever owned to pay off creditors. I just read they are selling the Purple Rain tour bus. :tu:

@IKM and Peter.. here's am idea. Jump on the Black Lives Matter bandwagon and make a collection that celebrates some of the great lesser known black players that influenced everyone. People like Curtis Mayfield, Sly Stone, Roland bautista (EW&F), Clydes Smith (Kool & the Gang).. there were a ton of them.

Not about jumping on a bandwagon but yes, there are lots of black guitarists who get no recognition.

Eddie Hazel & Ernie Isley are 2 examples along with those who Telecode mentioned. What about BB King?

Nothing wrong with having an EVH library, but some more diversity would be welcomed.
So Slash and Jimi Hendrix don't count?
The Jimi Hendrix branding has been going strong for 30+ years strong. Probably longer. He is not just a black American guitar player or 60s era musician. His image and name are heavily linked with the mythology of the lost 60s hippie dream.

Just because YOU have forgotten them doesn't mean that others have. Not making new records doesn't make a band irrelevant when the band has produced a set of albums like VH has. Maybe to you, but you are just you.

I'm on the fence with AT5. I have AT4 Max with all the packs except Joe Satriani (which is actually the one I really want, but not going to buy it until I eventually go for AT5).

The problem is... I have Helix Native (and the HX Stomp) and will soon upgrade Komplete to get Guitar Rig 6. So Amplitube 4 is not getting too much use these days. AT5 will have to be massively better than the others for me to spend time with it.

Competition is both making us have too many choices, and also giving us truly excellent gear.

Same- I have Helix (most used) Scuffam and GR6....A lot of choice, but I also have A4MAX (which I was hardly ever using due to the amount of stuff I cant use in it now) so I though the SE Upgrade was worth it just for the resizable GUI, ability to hide stuff I don't own and (maybe ) better sounds...

I think all that is possible in the free CS.

I like all their records before 1984. That was 40 years ago more or less. To put it into perspective of just how f**king old that music and you are.

WW2 ended in 1945 and those 60s hippie flower power records were made 20 years later around '65. The gap between the early 80s and now it double that. Do you feel old yet? 8)

My point is the two you mentioned Bon Jovi and Black Sabbath are no less "irrelevant and forgotten".

My original point of it being the perfect time for IK to add an Eddie Van Halen collection still stands. Of course the proper permissions and licensing would be required but that most likely goes for any branded collection.

Yet you wrote this......
telecode wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 6:52 pm Oh god no!!! Next up, the Richie Sambora and Tommy Iommi collections..
Anyway once again I think from a business standpoint it would be the perfect time for IK to do an EVH. I don't care if they do or not it just seems like an obvious move at this time due to his unfortunate passing.

I myself like the gear associated by vendor. But either way
