I don't know how long you use Live, but this is the biggest update that I remember (and I've been using Live since 5) *shrug*

Obviously, otherwise I wouldnt have been able to do an offline authorisation for the first PC.
Did you re-boot (required)

That’s strange... I didn’t need to reboot on my Mac or PC

Aye, well Ive tried a third system and realised why I didnt twig on the reboot thing.

Firstly, there's no mention of a need to reboot in the info sent out by Ableton.
Install the Live 11 Beta, start it and authorize it against the Ableton User Account you registered the Live 11 Beta serial with.
Secondly, the message at the end of the installer says that a reboot is required to run the Live11 application, not authorise it. However by that point, the installer has already automatically started Live11 up, kind of indicating that it will run without a reboot. And indeed I didnt need to reboot to do the offline authorisation and it ran fine after I did that.
So, yeah, it wouldnt be the first time Ive ever seen an installer say that a reboot was required when it wasnt.

Unfortunately, in both cases I left the installer running while I was doing something else, and went back later to actually do the authorisation so didnt join those dots. So I missed the installer message anyway (tada... it was under the running copy of Live)

Cheers to johnljacobi (and SliC) for the nod in the right direction.

Yeah, Ive never had to reboot before to authorise a full or beta of Live, and ve been on the beta program since Live8. And as per my previous post, the email doesnt mention a need to reboot, and the installer says 'reboot to run' but it runs anyway.

Just to add to the confusion, I rebooted immediately and still had a nightmare authorising :ud:

@whyterabbyt
Like you, probably I didn’t see the installer saying ‘reboot to run’ either because I was not watching the screen.

A reboot is not required for authorisation.

in that case, I'll re-repeat. I followed the procedure in the email, and didnt reboot. Live would not do an online authorisation; to authorise the first PC I had to do an offline authorisation. On the second PC, exactly the same thing happened, it wouldnt do an online authorisation. Ive now confirmed that behaviour with a third system.

It was for me, it ran, but it would not authorised until after I re-booted (Win 10 64)

I just got my Live 11 beta invite. Just my initial impression is that it looks great. I really like the way scales are implemented in the PR. I know some don't like the wasted space but I happen to like the lack of clutter. I haven't played with comping or lanes yet.

After installer finishes it tells you to reboot, though. You probably skipped it.

Gosh, I'm loving Ableton Live even more now. Live 11 brings some great improvements!.

Working with the beta today and scoping out the beta forums, ReWire has been dropped. That's kind of a big deal, though i then went on a Google hunt and found out that Reason did the same thing earlier this year? I guess ReWire is becoming extinct.

I think it might also be the least expensive suite upgrade too ... :)
