This is really God sent.
The random feature has opened another universe for my music and the comping it’s just an extremely practical design tool for audio collage on the fly etc.

Sorry, but I have already explained the whole scenario. And the installer actually runs Live in the step before it tells you that you need to reboot your machine to run Live.antic604 wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 10:27 pmAfter installer finishes it tells you to reboot, though. You probably skipped it.whyterabbyt wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:09 pmFirstly, there's no mention of a need to reboot in the info sent out by Ableton.
However what the installer says is not actually not true. I did not need to reboot my machine to run Live.
There's no 'probably' and the installer is incorrect. I didn't reboot the system, and yet I was able to run Live and do an offline authorisation, without rebooting.

Well, I had to reboot the 1st time and didn't have to the 2nd. It probably installed some shared Microsoft libraries that it didn't needed to add 2nd time around.whyterabbyt wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 1:55 pmSorry, but I have already explained the whole scenario. well, now its all f**king moot on my studio PC since, as of booting it half an hour ago, it doesnt recognise any f**king USB devices whatsoever. cant even get logged on, doesnt respond to the keyboard or mouse.

bit of as coincidence that's the case for three separate systems, including one Win7 system, and one Win10 system that's less than 3 weeks old.

so basically after having to unplug and move about 30 different things just to be able to get this PC on the desk and start it up with -just- keyboard and mouse, its running again.whyterabbyt wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 3:03 pm well, now its all f**king moot on my studio PC since, as of booting it half an hour ago, it doesnt recognise any f**king USB devices whatsoever. cant even get logged on, doesnt respond to the keyboard or mouse.![]()
dont worry it'll only take me half a day to put all that stuff back the way it was. like, woo.
still a bit worried about the other USB sockets though.
so, i guess that counts as a reboot or 20, then.
and yeah, Live 11 authorised, and running on my Windows 7 DAW PC. Thank f**k for that.
Just as well Im not going to be busy all weekend editing 3 hours of video editing and voiceovers, because if I was doing that I probably wouldnt get a chance to plug all my synths and controllers back in trying to work out if Ive blown a USB hub or something.
oh wait.
f**k.

Not if you run some software on all 3 that was needing those libraries.whyterabbyt wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 3:06 pmbit of as coincidence that's the case for three separate systems, including one Win7 system, and one Win10 system that's less than 3 weeks old.

I dont. You do get that I'm stating its a coincidence because there's no single piece of software apart from Live11 that those three systems have in common, right?

They all run windows, no? Perhaps you don't even know what's the common software that requires those libraries that you have installed but don't intentionally "use".whyterabbyt wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 4:01 pmI dont. Anyway, I don't even know why we discuss this. I had to reboot my computer after 1st installation of Live 11 and that's it. If you didn't - fine. I had no problems with installation & activation and you did. I tried to help. If it's not been useful, then just ignore me

Yeah, that makes sense.antic604 wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 4:11 pm They all run windows, no? Perhaps you don't even know what's the common software that requires those libraries that you have installed but don't intentionally "use".
So why do Ableton want all systems that run windows to reboot?
Why have other people had to reboot?
I wonder what's the magic bit of software Ive got (but dont know about) that other people also with windows havent got, and Ableton dont expect them to have.
Mostly because you dont want to accept a simple statement of 'this thing happened.'Anyway, I don't even know why we discuss this.
And that what you're splitting hairs over has absolutely nothing to do with what my issue was. My problems was online authorisation. Live11 ran and authorised, but I had to do that offline. Nothing to do with libraries. Nothing to do with magic software all my OS's have but nobody else does.
And almost entirely everything to do with the registration of some handler or filetype to be properly associated with the Live .exe.

I don't know what your upgrade price is, but if you login to your account the upgrade options will be there for you. My upgrade from Suite10 to Suite11 is £143. The upgrade from Suite9 to Suite10 was £180.tonymax wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 1:03 pm what is the current upgrade price from 10 standard to 10 suite...

I thought the the upgrade from Suite 9 to Suite10 was more like £250 when it was first launched (without a sale)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Could be. Pre-order for 10 Suite upgrade from 9 Suite was EUR199 (just verified in my e-mails) and I believe it was with -20% off discount, too.SLiC wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 5:16 pm I thought the the upgrade from Suite 9 to Suite10 was more like £250 when it was first launched (without a sale)
I think it was more expensive because it took 5 years (instead of 3) and it contained a lot of under-the-hood stuff which wasn't flashy, but important and paved the way for high-DPI support, MPE, VST3 and probably other stuff we're only starting to see now.
