revvy wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 4:29 pm I'm so enjoying the free version but thinking "hmm, wouldn't mind having access to the extra wavetables"

I guess that's how it goes...
added my serum WT and noises folder in Vital; win
Vital is my first WT synth that allows you to do import/export etc so I don't have that luxury. Some form of paid upgrade incoming...
Download the Serum demo and copy the wavetables from there

I didn't say that :)

If you like the synth, do buy some of the the paid versions at some point.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Every time I open Vital in Ableton Live it asks for my user name and password. Can that be avoided? It's really annoying. thx

Oh for sure, just debating which one.

Ok, here are my issues:

1) Using it on double monitor setup with different dpi scaling will completely mess up the interface.
2) I wish for some optimization update attempts in the future because cpu hit is pretty painful even for today's standards.
3) I have only two issues

I thought it would posted already, but I can't find it in the thread.

Echo sound works has made 400 + 65 wavetables available for FREE for Vital.

Amazing freebie this. I never thought we'd see software as good and fully functional as this for the low, low price of nothing. VCV is really the only thing that can compare here.

No complaints about CPU here (although the GUI is surprisingly heavy on GPU). My 3800X registers around 10% on Ableton's CPU meter (but 5% in task manager - 2.5% on 2 cores) when playing a 3-note chord - all 3 oscillators, 16x unison on each, 2 lots of osc FX on all three, and both filters. Serum doing the same by comparison (except 2 x osc @ 16 unison) eats about double this. Both at 2x oversampling. I'm not sure if there are some optimisations for modern CPU architectures here, or if people not using discrete graphics are seeing issues related to the relatively heavy GUI, but I find CPU usage perfectly acceptable for what it does, and excellent compared to the competition.

My only real bugbear with it is that, like Serum, there's no wavetable interpolation. The wavetables themselves seem to have more frames which mitigates the issue somewhat, but you'll still hear 'stepping' on slower modulations and/or the tail end of long, logarithmic envelopes.. The VST2 plug seems to have stability issues too, but VST3 seems far more stable.

Over the moon with this thing overall. The pseudo-spectral wavetable FX are wild and sound ridiculously fresh - almost getting toward the 'true' spectral effects in the likes of Europa. I was convinced the inharmonic stretch effect was genuinely inharmonic until I had a look at it under a scope.

I just feels wild to give this away. I can't really think of any other synth whose free version is so good it could reasonably cannibalise a £20 pay option. No-brainer to show support for me, but still...

Just one instance using only 1 osc with one of my own wavetables:

Good job!

Did you check the 'high quality' button in the advanced settings?
Also, in the wavetable editor, you can 'smooth out' the tables. Maybe it helps

I don't think it can be avoided, click anywhere else on the screen to eliminate the login window. Yeah it's a bit annoying but the tradeoff is great, for me anyway-

There is wavetable interpolation. Open the editor and there is an option there for a number of interpolation options

If you have version 1.0.3, this has been fixed (atleast on Linux), give it a shot.

I mean at the oscillator level. Even with line sources rather than audio, as you scroll through or modulate the wavetable it 'clicks' over to the next frame whenever you reach a certain point. There's nothing meaningful 'between' frames. Presumably it's a trade-off to save CPU. In practice it just limits the complexity/rate of change you can feasibly use in your wavetables before 'steps' become obvious with slower modulations or noise creeps too high on faster modulations. Things like, say, the original Massive's 'Carbon' wavetable where every frame is a distinct timbre are off the cards. Carbon was really nice for jumping around inside and modulating between adjacent timbres - like having 50 wavetables in one.
