Yeah, at the Osc level... you can draw 2 waves and it interpolates between them... it defaults to no interpolation. In the editor is the option for interpolation. There are 4 different interpolation options.cron wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 8:59 pmI mean at the oscillator level. Even with line sources rather than audio, as you scroll through or modulate the wavetable it 'clicks' over to the next frame whenever you reach a certain point. There's nothing meaningful 'between' frames. Presumably it's a trade-off to save CPU. In practice it just limits the complexity/rate of change you can feasibly use in your wavetables before 'steps' become obvious with slower modulations or noise creeps too high on faster modulations. Things like, say, the original Massive's 'Carbon' wavetable where every frame is a distinct timbre are off the cards. Carbon was really nice for jumping around inside and modulating between adjacent timbres - like having 50 wavetables in one.pdxindy wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 8:31 pmThere is wavetable interpolation. Open the editor and there is an option there for a number of interpolation optionscron wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 7:30 pmMy only real bugbear with it is that, like Serum, there's no wavetable interpolation. The wavetables themselves seem to have more frames which mitigates the issue somewhat, but you'll still hear 'stepping' on slower modulations and/or the tail end of long, logarithmic envelopes.

Echo sound works has made 400 + 65 wavetables available for FREE for Vital.

I have had a few communications with him.

my personal view. vital is not better, it simply a great wavetable synth with it's own character, of course this is the first version, you never know how it evolves.Tricky-Loops wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 4:55 pm BTW, how does Vital compare to the Vaporizer 2 wavetable synth? Do I still need Vaporizer 2 or is Vital even better![]()
vital is different. i have both (vital even early access), and for me vital is more of an addition to the wavetable arena.
but this of course personal. vaporizer2 has a lot, that vital (at this moment) can't do.
their character for me, are very different. vaporizer2 uses a very clean oscillator, 4 of them, (or 6; noise and sample..).
the oscillators in vital behave quite differently, and that's why i thought, i want vital, i guessed already what it can do, and it can do it.
but a comparision, an objective one, seems to me difficult, as always; workflow is a factor, for example. how it works in your music.
but a comparision of two different "interpretations" of wavetable handling, makes it more difficult.
this is a long thread, i am no expert, but vital has it's own character, that is the purpose of vital.
wavetable effects in vaporizer2 work in a different way.
i work with both at this moment, and absynth 5 (why am i saying this.. i jump around..), me like the differences.
vital is called: Spectral warping wavetable synth, and you have me, and paying the developer, yeah!
a different approach, in way a different synthesis, like DS thorn is a synth that is difficult to compare, for instance.
personal observations (and new features of vaporizer2 will come, of course).
like pigments 2 or codex or i have quite a few wavetable synths (and soft modules..), they all sound different.
serum is a clean beast, that doesn't mean it can't sound gritty and dirty. (don't own serum)
vaporizer2 is a clean beast, that doesn't mean it can't sound gritty and dirty. i make sure of it, that it sounds like a o well, what i want..
pigments 2 to mention another beast, has MPE, wavetable engine, but no editor, still a mighty beast, of course also because of it's modulation possibilties, filters, and the excellent granular engine, and the VA engine. 2 oscillators, that can drone a crowd... as vaporizer2 can do, or of course vital, but i feel, that they do it in another way. or hear.
(make always my own presets from scratch, i use wavetables from factory or other places.., but mostly i use my own wavetables, more and more)

Love the UI, the mod system (stereo is just amazing), filters are good (enough) (love the comb filter!), FX is handy and sounds nice, nice advanced settings for unison, great wavetable editor and options to alter/morph the osc's, awesome FM (no PM, i believe, but real FM)...Love it!

Does anybody know why Vital seems to connect to vital.audio, account.vital.audio and securetoken.googleapis.com (maybe more but these URLs did rather clearly not origin from Windows)? In a quick test I sometimes also saw new traffic to said URLs when opening the user interface but after closing and reopening the DAW it seems to cease until restarting the machine.
This might be for copy protection as well as for analytics but I wasn't able to find any further information on vital.audio regarding the copy protection or possible analytics.

It is authorised online, and downloads contents online, so that would explain the first two, although the released version isn't suppose to do it except initially when you authorize it and download it.......
the google one is for the ttx to wave which may explain why it also does the account.vital.audio, to see what type of license you have to see if it needs to limit your daily amount of text to wavetable.

I got about a thousand of them in a few hours, I haven't installed the 400 core tables from echo sound works because I tried them in another synrh and while there were good ones in there, was also many of them that had errors. If you google "massive wavetables for serum" you can find the tables from massive, I think there's a couple missing, but even though they're old I still like them.
I like GlorkGlunk's tables:

Wavetables taken from Virus TI:

There are countless more out there these are just some that I like
You could also try making your own as well, it can actually be pretty fun, I'm making a set but it won't be done for a while I don't do this stuff every day

So I found a fun thing. Turns out the Analog filter can oscillate pretty will as long as there's at least a tiny bit of signal. If you turn the OSC level all the way down to 0.001 (but not off). Can be super interesting coupled with the Filter FM.

in the analogue domain, filters only self oscillate without input, due to the inherent noise in the circuit.
digitally, you will need to add that tiny amount to get it going.

Connects to vital.audio for a Vital update check. account.vital.audio to see if there are any preset packs for download and securetoken.googleapis.com to refresh the authentication token (which is used to check for bought packs and use for text to wavetable). I don't use any google analytics in Vital or on the vital.audio site.mahaya wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 9:44 pm Does anybody know why Vital seems to connect to vital.audio, account.vital.audio and securetoken.googleapis.com (maybe more but these URLs did rather clearly not origin from Windows)? This *should* only happen once per session though it might happen if you start a single Vital instance, delete it and add it again.

That's where I'm at. I'm not asking it to replace Dune 3 or Hive 2 or Rapid etc I'm asking Vital to augment what I already have and it has done a brilliant job of that so far.digitalboytn wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 10:29 pmHcDoom wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 3:01 pm Definitely wont replace Dune 3, Rapid, Hive 2 and Spire, but it can ride along equally.![]()

Generally, my first choice in copy protection is serial number, plus I prefer an installer that is self-contained, and doesn't need to call home (or reach out to the internet in any way) in order to do any of the installation. I base most of my purchases on this idea, although I have already purchased Vital Pro.mtytel wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 10:39 pm Connects to vital.audio for a Vital update check. account.vital.audio to see if there are any preset packs for download and securetoken.googleapis.com to refresh the authentication token (which is used to check for bought packs and use for text to wavetable). I think that's the best thing for guaranteeing that music projects can be opened in the future, should a synth/effects developer leave the marketplace and abandon any webservices or pages. The idea here is to insure that today's purchased synth is always installable and workable should said developer disappear. I realize that certain features may not be available (TTWT), but it would best to at least know that the synth itself is still installable/usable without relying on webservices/pages.
