The song title is a nod to the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. For those familiar with the strip, the song follows Calvin and Hobbes on one of their imaginary space trips. The piece features Korg Wavedrum, Zendrum, various keyboards and synths, Chapman Stick, guitar, and theremin. It is the only piece I have ever recorded with the theremin. As an aside, the theremin is the only instrument I have that inspired my wife to ask whether it had a headphone jack.

jcub,
Pretty wild and cool! I read Dr. Bob Moog went to a Nine Inch Nails concert once years ago (if you can picture that); Bob went to meet the band after the show. Bob wondered how the band kept the pitch control of the theremin as well as they did. The theremin player used some sort of pitch correction, Antares I think. Anyway, very cool song with everything involved.

Thanks! The theremini and the new Claravox version of the Theremin have built in pitch correction but I have one without the pitch correction. If you watch Clara Rockmore videos she didn’t need it! One of the hardest instruments I have ever attempted to play.

Great track jcub. Full of intent and energy, the Theremin sounds great. I also like the guitar (lead and rhythm).
To get a sort of Theremin sound in the past I have used an app on my iPad called GyroSynth which responds to motion in 3D.

jcub,
Now that you mention it, I think I have read about a theremin that comes with pitch correction. For a couple of minutes I played a theremin in a music museum; in San Diego I think. Yeah, not easy to control the pitch.

Thanks doe the kind words!
I will check out Gyro Synth on the iPad. I have several good Theremin sounds that are all much easier to play than the real thing (for me at least).

Really cool track and good skill with the Theremin, nothing more to say. Thank you for sharing.

I like it. That would be very difficult to record and mix.

Thank you! Pieces like this usually evolve over a few days - luckily my brother (a professional audio engineer) offered to tackle the mix. There are a lot of moving parts!
