Just seen on the no chat Bargain thread
SSL Native X-comp plug-in now only $19.99 (was $199!) until Dec 20th
Use code at checkout: XCOMP1999
https://www.solidstatelogic.com/products/plug-ins
anyone got any comments on how good it is? I did a search and there is very little it seems on KvR about it, I guess because it's quite old and usually expensive..
maybe worth it for $19.99 though?

They're in your hometown. Why not walk over and check it out?
The original is quite old, but this one has been revamped. It's listed as "new" on their website, but it's been out for a couple of years. Their Help Centre leads me to believe an iLok dongle is required, and there is a 30 day trial available.

EDIT: No dongle requirement!

There is a demo.
SSL Native X-Comp 64-bit v6.5.17.exe
Windows
Mac
SSL Native plug-ins can be authorised by machine-based iLok licensing or iLok 2 / iLok 3 USB dongles. Please ensure you are running SSL Native 6.3 or above to use the machine-based licensing method.

Wow, that's a terrible website. I can't even see what copy protection it uses, but I was under the impression that SSL uses iLok?

Nice find. They should really make that clear in their Help Centre. The multiple articles I read all referenced the dongle. Even better if they put it on the product page! The Noodlist wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 6:25 pm "SSL Native plug-ins can be authorised by machine-based iLok licensing or iLok 2 / iLok 3 USB dongles."

Actually they aren't. They are out in the sticks at Begbroke. You need permission from Peter Gabriel to visit and he's not answering my calls at the moment. Similarly Sonnox aren't in Oxford either, they are also out in the sticks.telecharge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 6:24 pm They're in your hometown. Why not walk over and check it out?
You have to be a 3rd order don wizard to be in Oxford.
I'd heard the examples - none are really applicable to my kind of music I think. It looks like the demo is everything I think, something I'm never very keen on. And yes it asks for an ilok ID, don't know if that means you can have the soft version. I have the dongle so it isn't a barrier for me.

X-Comp is asking for iLok activation code. No trial option. If you demo'ed X-Saturator last month that means you can't demo X-Comp now? WTF?!?!?

I bought it. I have a couple other SSL plugins and they are pretty good (buss compressor and drum strip). I passed on the Saturator because I Have a lot of those. Also the tube comp because it looked like a regular compressor with a tube stage, again redundant with what I have.
But X-Comp has some nice visualization features, a solid complement of functionality and a unique bleed section which works great. Definitely worth the $20 (to me)!

He's been calling me every day bugging me to play an erhu on his next song. I'll tell him to call you back. Oh, and do you happen to play the erhu???,..... because I don't, and I probably shouldn't have told him that I do.ChamomileShark wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 6:46 pm You need permission from Peter Gabriel to visit and he's not answering my calls at the moment.

I might buy it if you can use the soft version. Would be grateful if someone could confirm.ChamomileShark wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 6:46 pm ...it asks for an ilok ID, don't know if that means you can have the soft version.

" The latest Native V6.5 release from Solid State Logic introduces the new ‘X-EQ 2’ plug-in and provides all users authorisation of SSL Native licenses onto a computer instead of a physical iLok dongle. As of SSL Native V6.5, a physical iLok is no longer required to run SSL Native."lotus2035 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 7:27 pmI might buy it if you can use the soft version.
