The amount of products in the Cloud is somewhat overwhelming. Will Roland release some kind of all-in-one plugin with a tagged browser? (example, Arturia's Analog Lab or NI's Komplete Kontrol)

JD-990 >>> JD-800.

Is there a reason why the D-50 doesn't come with the original factory presets?

I can dump them from my real D-50 if needed but I was just wondering.

It does include the factory presets, along with what I think were some of Roland's own expansion cards. Click the Patch button under the LCD display to see the patch banks.

The D-05 presets aren't in here, oddly enough. I should dump those myself.

I had a similar issue when I installed one of the RC plugin. The factory presets are .bin files stored inside the plugin file. I'm on MacOS so I had to find them inside "D-50.vst3" (or .au). It's a .dll on Windows I guess however I don't know if you can access it...

Contact support if you need help with the .bin files/presets not appearing. I had an issue months ago where I was missing a bunch of presets and they got me sorted out.

That was a good tip. I used the component file from MacOS. For reference, locate the component file under:

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/D-50.component

Right click on the file and choose "View package contents" (or something like that). Now navigate to:

/Contents/Resources/Patch

And there are the preset banks. Copy the bin files to a location of you choice and import them into the plugin. They will be available from now on. The plugin will keep a copy of the files so you can delete the temporary files if you like.

I have to say that here are some really good presets in banks 2-6. I really forgot after all these years that my D-50 can sound this good.

I donated my '50 to my local musical instrument library a couple years back when I got a big Native Instruments keyboard and didn't have room for two large keyboards, and I already had a D-05 so in theory I was good to go.

But I regret it. Damn that thing is so cool.

I am just curious: Does that happen for anyone with a Mac? I had no issues with any of the presets, all banks are there, etc., but I'm using a PC.

I use it on a mac, and I've never had to go hunting for presets -- it loads with 6 banks of 64 presets each. I always assumed those were the originals. Sounds like some people have a bug where they don't show up and have to be manually added.

Either that, or all the default 6 banks are "new" and these guys are finding "hidden" original factory banks that Roland seems to want to hide from everyone....but I'm thinking it's the Bug situation, as this latter option really just makes no sense at all.

EDIT: out of curiosity I went and checked the contents stored in the vst file -- it's the exact same 6 banks. So clearly some mac-users simply have a bug where they don't get initially loaded the way they should. I have two macs (iMac and MBP) and neither one had that issue, though. Not sure what scenario causes it.

I've had trouble in the past with a fresh install where I also installed some extra banks before I loaded the plugin the first time. When I did this, some banks were missing.

No it does not. Maybe some day.

this is a confirmed bug. I had this happen to me also, reported it, and was told it would be fixed (someday).
