What about both?

Imagine if the plugin lets you switch GUI's from the "Easy-mode" JD800 with sliders to the more 'Advanced' JD990 GUI with the extra features the module has alongside with the factory presets from both (they're different iirc) + Vintage Synth card.

In any case, yessiree - the JD990 and the V-Synth(with sample-loading) are the only two things I've been asking and will ask for. I promise to shut up and stop bugging Roland Cloud ever again if they bring them to my computer

(now if only other companies can get some classic digital VA's in there as well. I messaged Korg about adding the MS2000 to their KLC and they said they'd consider it~ )

Sure duplicating JD-990 UI in a plugin would be a terribly stupid thing to do. It should be kinda like they did D-50, which emulates PG-1000 look and edits everything with sliders and whatnot. Would need to be done similar to that.

Has anyone tried to replicate JD-990 patches in Zenology Pro?
The JD-800 waveforms are already there in Zenology Pro. I have not checked the additional waveforms in JD-990, maybe those are also included. The synth architecture is pretty similar to JDs. There could be some structures not fully supported, and the effects section is more limited.
Would be interesting to hear how close to JD-990 you could get with Zenology Pro + some external VST effects.

Hey mates i'm using MPC software 2.9 and am on OS 10.15.5 and just purchased the Sound Canvas plugin.

Using the VST version the graphic display of the plugin is just black.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled, do you think there is anyway to get it working?

Thanks

You are on macOS Catalina? Could be a typical graphics Open GL issue on macOS 10.15.x.

I wonder if they will release a JD-990 or 800 as they seem to be recreating nearly everything else. :)
I am not as familiar with the 990 but know about the XV-5080 and D-50, and have bought those plugins already.

The SOS JD-800 review is April 1991. If they're going to celebrate the 30th Anniversary by the exact released day, supposed to be soon

Ah ok...

Do you know if there is a fix?

Cheers

Perhaps you should contact Roland and/or Akai support. But first let's find out if it's MPC Software or Sound Canvas related. Question: Can you open and use Sound Canvas plugin in another Host/DAW? Does it graphically appear and work correctly there?

The only other daw I use is Pro Tools and I don't think there are aax versions so I cant test this out :(

I'll try support as you suggested cheers mate.

If you have any other ideas tho... i'm all ears

Is there really that big difference between the JD's and the XV's except for less Patches on the JD's?
The JD's where awesome in hw form with all the hands on knobs for tweaking but on a computer screen that magic is gone.

Trying to understand the hype here since many call the XV's, Triton and M1 sounds dated and yet i like all 3 :)

You could test Sound Canvas VSTi (Mac) with Digital Brain Instruments vPlayer 2 (freeware).

For sure! I'm not the biggest fan tbh of the Roland Cloud JV1080 look. It feels more overly complicated. I'm sort of hoping they go for a different approach with the JD.

Sonically, the JD is the best sounding of them all :). It's the best sounding digital synth that Roland has ever made. They all sound good, but going to the JD is like going from a .mp3 to a .wav file. Take a look at videos and demos online and see for yourself!

I can dump them from my real D-50 if needed but I was just wondering.
I had a similar issue when I installed one of the RC plugin. The factory presets are .bin files stored inside the plugin file. I'm on MacOS so I had to find them inside "D-50.vst3" (or .au). It's a .dll on Windows I guess however I don't know if you can access it...
That was a good tip. I used the component file from MacOS. For reference, locate the component file under:

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/D-50.component

Right click on the file and choose "View package contents" (or something like that). Now navigate to:

/Contents/Resources/Patch

And there are the preset banks. Copy the bin files to a location of you choice and import them into the plugin. They will be available from now on. The plugin will keep a copy of the files so you can delete the temporary files if you like.

I have to say that here are some really good presets in banks 2-6. I really forgot after all these years that my D-50 can sound this good.
I am just curious: Does that happen for anyone with a Mac? I had no issues with any of the presets, all banks are there, etc., but I'm using a PC.
Hey, friends. Brian from Roland Cloud here. Occasionally, when a member downloads an instrument and expansion packs for the instrument without first loading the instrument in their DAW, loading the instrument for the first time will read the expansion sounds as the default sounds. A simple fix for this is to uninstall the instrument and expansion sounds, reinstall the instrument, load it into your DAW, save and close the project, then download any expansion sounds. Upon reloading the project in your DAW, the instrument should read the default sounds as well as the expansion sounds. If that doesn't work for some reason, we are always available through the Contact Us link at http://www.rolandcloud.com/support to take care of you. Please feel free to reach out any time. Thanks! 😊

It's amazing that more time is spent fixing software problems than making music. No man, I'm tired.
