Yep, I had an epiphany today as the Roland Cloud app was asking me for the fifth time to log in, and it said there were updates but they wouldn't install. I decided to completely delete Roland Cloud and move on, and I plan to do this with any software that takes too much time getting to work.carlosigls wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 7:37 pm It's amazing that more time is spent fixing software problems than making music. Did watch some videos now and now i see why people want itShiek927 wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 7:03 pmFor sure! I'm not the biggest fan tbh of the Roland Cloud JV1080 look. It feels more overly complicated. I'm sort of hoping they go for a different approach with the JD.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 8:49 am Sure duplicating JD-990 UI in a plugin would be a terribly stupid thing to do. It should be kinda like they did D-50, which emulates PG-1000 look and edits everything with sliders and whatnot. Would need to be done similar to that.
Is there really that big difference between the JD's and the XV's except for less Patches on the JD's?
The JD's where awesome in hw form with all the hands on knobs for tweaking but on a computer screen that magic is gone.
Trying to understand the hype here since many call the XV's, Triton and M1 sounds dated and yet i like all 3
Sonically, the JD is the best sounding of them all. It's the best sounding digital synth that Roland has ever made. They all sound good, but going to the JD is like going from a .mp3 to a .wav file. Take a look at videos and demos online and see for yourself!
I thought it would be a Overlap of sounds if you have the XV but it's not.
It sounds so Creamy and alive Compared to the more stiffer and sterile XV sound which i am used to.

I have to agree. I'm starting to feel like all the trouble is not worth it. The RCM is super slow and very finicky. Yesterday it said there was an 808 update, but got stuck in a constant loop telling me about the update. Even though I "Accepted" the update, it was never clear whether it ever installed, and continued to inform me there was an update. It never seems to "just work".abernathy wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 8:09 pmYep, I had an epiphany today as the Roland Cloud app was asking me for the fifth time to log in, and it said there were updates but they wouldn't install. And what is up with the Roland CLoud website? When you log in and then try to check your account, it says something about "token expired" and I have to login again. Everytime. I don't think they have the best coders/testers over there.

It worked when I tried it a minute ago, and I've never had that issue in the past. I did have a problem about 2 months ago with the Cloud manager app saying there was an update, even though I already updated it. That lasted a couple weeks or so and was cleared up eventually.

Hey, abernathy. Brian from Roland Cloud here. Our 2.5.10 Roland Cloud Manager update specifically corrects the log-in issue. The quickest way to get the new version is to download the package here ( https://www.rolandcloud.com/catalog/ess ... ud-manager ), run the uninstaller, and then run the installer. We've also sped up some of the response times for instruments, etc and this is thanks to the input from everyone here. We're always working to improve the platform, so just let me know if you're seeing a specific issue, and I'll either get you a fix or get it to the team that can. Thanks!abernathy wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 8:09 pmYep, I had an epiphany today as the Roland Cloud app was asking me for the fifth time to log in, and it said there were updates but they wouldn't install. Thanks Brian. I'll give it a try at some point. I do hope there will be a focus on making the experience more frictionless.Brian.McClelland wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 12:10 amHey, abernathy. Pretty sure this is water under the bridge at this point. They've made their choice. People can make the choice to pay them or not.gentleclockdivider wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 2:09 am Just sell the goddamn plugins with a simple serial code ,I am sure you’ll attract way more customers

It is lousy that customers that bought synths before Roland Cloud (like System 100 for me) have to use Roland Cloud Manager to keep using them, or at least to get the updated versions.gentleclockdivider wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 2:09 am Just sell the goddamn plugins with a simple serial code ,I am sure you’ll attract way more customers

Agreed. It's been years at this point. As a rule of thumb, RC are going to do what they are going to do at any given moment and it's everyone's choice whether to jump on it at or not. Everything they do might not be the best or more convenient, but trying to change anyone's mind at this point on just about anything is just an option. Either adapt to their ecosystem or venture toward another dev.rezoneight wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 7:29 pmPretty sure this is water under the bridge at this point. They've made their choice. Brian, is there any kind of rough ETA for the Juno-60? We talking a target of Q1? Q2?
