Natively? Lol, no. Why would you think that? They'd shout about it from the rooftops if it did.
Turns out it was the rooftops that didn't support the new Apple silicon yet...

The one they've added sounds very FL-like (yeah, don't ask me to explain why I think it :D)

Yep, the demo song is pretty terrible. Fortunately, the new version of Live is awesome, I like the new features. Feels like a polished 10. Don't know if that is enough for some though.

Live 11 is coming February 23, 2021.

It also seems to load faster and to be snappier - up till now every version I've updated to has become more bloated and slower so they have done something to buck the trend

I suspect it will be a while for that... Live depends on various 3rd party tools and there is also M4L... it will all need to get ported to native AS.
Yeah, I think it's still a good ways off, but they've probably been working on it since last summer when the dev kits were released. In the meantime they'll probably do what many other devs have done and release patches to help improve Rosetta compatibility. Live 10 has been running quite well for me when it comes to overall stability, snappiness and plugin compatibility. Performance is not as good as it should be though, about on par with my 2017 quad-i7 15" MBP. It's been good enough to load all of my past projects though.

Shame that the MPE round-robbins channels and thinks every MPE synth uses channels 2-16 though.

Didn't we have this with BW originally!

Live doesn't record the midi channel of each note. So that means for example the Linntrument note per row guitar layout will not work in Live. At this point, Live will not record the MPE midi exactly as you play it. So if you set the Linnstrument to send only channels 1-4, that will not be recorded as played.

And yeah, it's the same unfortunate limitation for MPE that Bitwig had in the beginning.

Not only that there is no way of setting the channel count that I can find, so if you have a software or hardware MPE synth with 8 channels nearly half the notes won't play!

I have reported it as a bug, lets see if they take as long as bitwig did to sort it out :)

In what version of Bitwig was this introduced?

I don't think they ever mentioned anything about a 'core audio engine' for Live 11. What the hell is that anyway?

Post

"Core Audio" sounds like the Mac equivalent to ASIO.

It is but Live on Mac has had this since OSX, same with almost all Mac hosts.

Suite upgrade is priced at $199. Is it likely to get any cheaper than that in future?

I've not really paid attention to Abe's pricing policy for years.
