Assuming you downloaded the three Spitfire Audio instrument .alp files from the Centrecode site and installed them they should show up under Packs asSHall1000 wrote: Sun Feb 21, 2021 9:44 pm Where do I find the new Spitfire instruments and the drone lab pack in the Live 11 beta?
Brass Quartet by Spitfire Audio
String Quartet by Spitfire Audio
Upright Piano by Spitfire Audio

SHall1000 wrote: Sun Feb 21, 2021 10:16 pm Thanks. So they are a special download from centrecode site? Explains why I could not find them in the normal packs list.
I've only just got around to playing with the Spectral Resonator on drums - lots of fun.

Hi K! I'm writing this, because I'm sailing with you: AL+S1 user. I've used AL (Suite) for about 10 years, love it, but I'm not going to upgrade this time.soulata wrote: Sun Feb 21, 2021 8:39 am Hmmm,
I've been using the beta for the last two weeks but I'm not really sure I'll upgrade.
There's lots of new stuff but hardly anything that would push me to fork out 169€ or so for the upgrade.
I just might wait until 11.2 or something (or the Christmas discounts).
I dunno...
Anybody else in the same boat?

Current (or previous if you read it in a few days, 10) version is perfectly ok and I don't see any new feature worth 160€ for me. Comping etc - this is the reason I use S1, CenterCode has a long litany what is missing from AL; new devices - yet another reverb, some spectral gimmicks, some new presets and samples, some new UIs, but nothing essential. Maybe except MPE (if you have one of these toys & Live is your whole life) or algorithmic randomisation (great if you are your target audience). Maybe.
I jumped beta 11 as soon as it got public, I tried new stuff, and decided to stay with 10. And if at some time in the future I decide I cannot Live without 11, it's only 40€ more. Or wait for some Summer/Covid/BlackFriday/Xmas/Loop-sale, that inevitably will occur.
I hope I helped a little with GAS. Best;)

A lot of the upgrade complaints seem similar between Live and Reason. Both companies seem to be prioritizing new devices over core DAW improvements. I guess it's easier to market shiny new instruments and effects. I upgraded from Live 9, so it felt worthwhile, but I understand why 10 > 11 might not feel that significant. The comping is greatly appreciated though.

Live 11 is a very significant update--if you need MPE or comping. I don't need either, and I don't like the reduced room for editing in the piano roll. It's okay, but I'll stick with 10 for the nonce. If it weren't for folders, I wouldn't have moved to 10. That did clean up the projects quite a bit.

Super excited. Only had Live for a month now or so and I'm ready. The scale feature pushed me over to Live. Tired of drawing in my scales in FL, turning on ghost notes, and making melodies. Now all the new FX got me super horny.

I've been going back and forth on whether or not to upgrade. I picked up Live 10 Standard a while back with the intention of migrating from Cubase. However, with work being crazy, trying help kids with schooling while they are home, it hasn't been easy to find time for myself.
I don't think the regular price upgrade to 11 Standard for $159 makes much sense for me. I feel like I really need to dive deep and learn with what I have. However, the upgrade to Suite 10 (and thus 11) for $295 right now is what has my FOMO going a little crazy.
My rational mind is saying save the money, learn with what I have already. My irrational mind is saying go for it, we /might/ find some time to learn this DAW this year and you don't want to be stuck without Max 4 Live and any other gems from Suite.

You should do it, if not for yourself, for you children. Think how much you could teach them with Suite. They would be ahead of the other children who do not have access to Ableton 11 Suite.theoryzero wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 6:17 am I've been going back and forth on whether or not to upgrade. It's fascinating how differently people are seeing the upgrade! For me, 11 - like 10.1 before it with VST3 support, automation shapes, sidechain freezing, inclusion of returns in stems - seems to be very focused on "core DAW improvements". MPE, comping, track linking, CPU monitoring, tempo follow, macro snapshots, key & scale snap, etc. are all very much related to workflow, either for production or live performance. All the new & refreshed devices and sound-packs are just cherry on a cake, that make it even more compelling.Tronam wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 12:37 amA lot of the upgrade complaints seem similar between Live and Reason. Obviously, there are users for whom those features mean nothing, but it's hard to not conclude they're simply using the wrong DAW

Plus there might be new things in 11.x later this year. I can wait.
Spitfire libs are great but I own many of their libs already. Hybrid reverb is fine, too.
But it's not enough (for me).
As far as comping goes, I rarely record audio in AL, always use S1 for that, esp multitrack.
