For me, 11 - like 10.1 before it with VST3 support, automation shapes, sidechain freezing, inclusion of returns in stems - seems to be very focused on "core DAW improvements". MPE, comping, track linking, CPU monitoring, tempo follow, macro snapshots, key & scale snap, etc. are all very much related to workflow, either for production or live performance. All the new & refreshed devices and sound-packs are just cherry on a cake, that make it even more compelling.

Obviously, there are users for whom those features mean nothing, but it's hard to not conclude they're simply using the wrong DAW
Have to agree, the promised features are great. I like the comping, especially that it does MIDI as well as audio, that's great. Tempo follow doesn't work at all on the latest beta, just broken. MPE is funky compared to other DAWs I use with MPE, it's got a lot of control over it, it's just not as fluid. CPU monitoring is cool, they should have looked at how DP10 does it though, it seems more like how Reaper does it, with generalized meh meters.
I'm debating it, I haven't been able to enjoy Live since getting into Bitwig and other DAWs with decent keyboard shortcuts to be honest. It just feels like mud navigating it's interface, but the feature set is impressive especially when it's updated in the future to fix things like the tempo follow. I'm going to consult my friend whom I write music with sometime who uses it exclusively, if he's not updating yet I'll wait.

11 feels more like a 10.5 update than an upgrade with the amount of new stuffs they're bringing to the table compared to from 9 to 10. Most of the new features doesn't interest me and I don't bother with the extra new contents either. Maybe it's just my workflow but I've been doing comping using 2 or more tracks up to almost 100 cuts perfectly so I don't see the new comping feature will be a big deal for me. MIDI comping... maybe, depending on how it's implemented.

That said, I'm still going ahead with the upgrade mainly for the tech support and continuing bug fixing updates. 10.1 still has several quirks that needs to be fixed but I doubt you'll see them fixed. They'll still give you tech support but they probably won't be fixing those bugs. Updates for 9 stopped at about six months after 10 was released. Also, this 11 upgrade is actually cheaper than the 10 upgrade so that does sweeten the pot a little.

I have a love hate relationship with Live but I probably can never leave because I can't live without M4L as I've created and uses a lot of tools with it extensively my workflow is just so deeply integrated with Live & M4L. Besides, I can do a whole lot of things way faster in Live than with any other DAWs to date.

Yeah... I think Live 11 is solid with plenty of core improvements. If I were still using Live I would be happy with it. The MPE support is only part way there (still no recording of each notes midi channel), but that is not unexpected for such a complex feature. I'm unsure about the Tempo follow and how it works (besides it not working in the latest beta) and whether it is as good as the tempo tracking/mapping in Logic. The 16 macros and snapshots are sweet.

I bought the upgrade on the sale price from Suite 9 to 10 which includes 11. I will likely install 11 to try it out once it is released and has a few bug fixes. I'm in no hurry but it would be fun to explore 11 a bit some weekend. There is little chance I would start using it regularly. There are just too many things I am attached to in Bitwig. Bitwig has unmatched MPE support with integrated modulation which has no equivalent in Live. Then all the little things I am used to and the biggest one... I have not had a full crash in Bitwig in years. Sometimes a plugin crashes and here and there the audio engine crashes when I do something crazy like making a messed up aggregate device while everything is running... and even then Bitwig itself didn't crash and no work was lost.

Live is my second backup after Bitwig and Logic so am keeping it for now.

Just saw on Reddit, the download links are live on Ableton's CDN; you can download 11.0 now but you can't authorise it yet - that will no doubt happen tomorrow.

Does anyone know if there are upgrade discounts besides the one ableton is offering? I currently have live 10 suite and the ableton offer to upgrade is $183. I'm looking to see if there is anything less.

still like the feeling of the Live 8 theme best so sharing

Stupid question (maybe!). Do I have to uninstall live 10 first? Or just install 11 above 10 (or separated!)?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Live 11 will install alongside Live 10, so no, you don't have to uninstall 10.
