Evening Everett,

Congrats on the 3.2 update, and will eagerly await the CUDA/GPGPU update. Although getting your hands on an Nvidia card at the moment can be it's own challenge!!

You probably are aware anyway, but it looks like the forums on your site are down. Not a problem, just a heads up. In case this gets to you faster.
Have a great weekend :-)

Thanks.

Also, thanks Scrubbing Monkeys for the GUI design demo very cool.

Fathom Vector upgrade has been fixed to include Fathom FX. Those who run vector email me for the new link. If you are still on 3.2 then the settings upgrade page will give you the new link.

GPU processing is next.

Hi,

So I guess another congratulations are in order. New Computer Music issue 294/May 2021 is out, and the cover feature is "The 40 Greatest Synth Sounds Of All Time", and how to recreate them in the CM Plugin Suite. The article is pretty Dune CM and Thorn CM heavy, and reading through it there are pages and pages of no Fathom.

Untill we get to #1!!!!

So their #1 Synth Sound, they use Fathom CM to recreate it!!
I won't say what sound it is, because, y'know, spoilers. But congratulations!!
Sunday tomorrow, day off work, so I'm looking forward to having a try myself based on the article!

It could be really intersting if you/other tallented designers here could recreate even more of these "Top 40" sounds in Fathom CM? It might show it's versatility even more and expands it's visabilty. I hope the magazine drives a few more sales your way and broadens it's market share.

But nice one! Congrats!

How funny ( they are finally catching on).....I think Fathom sounds awesome.

I think Fathom is an awesome sounding instrument, and what it needs is a "celebrity" spokes(super)model. Ha! Just kidding!

To kick off my suggestion, I'm thinking of the potential impact that certain individuals (given here just as examples) have with endorsing various virtual instruments via YouTube live streaming or video demos. Not recommending these persons specifically, but in general someone with charisma, enthusiasm, and potentially a large number of fans or followers. e.g. influencers...

It seems that people are lining up to throw money at each of these company's products anytime a new product release is announced!

Examples in action...

1. Venus Theory - for Cherry Audio- Live with Voltage Modular. The voice!
2. John "Skippy" Lemkuhl (aka PlugInGuru) - for PlugInGuru Unify - He invited a few "special" guests to a recent livestream who joined in via Zoom video, and they all showed up! Herbie Hancock, Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Steve Porcaro (Toto), Huston Singletary (Ableton Live sound design), + more.

Wow. Pretty cool!

Hey, now that would be a great slogan. “We may not be the greatest synth, but we can make the greatest synth sound!”

That is actually pretty cool. Nice to hear we are still on their radar.

Actually I can probably guess exactly what happened. It was probably a really complex sound from a hardware synth and they tried every other synth and could not get it quite right and someone there said “Hey what was that synth again where you can change anything and control the crap out of it?” “Oh yeah, Fathom, yeah try that one.”

Oh, yes, you’re right. It’s a pain in the ass. But I got the exact sound I needed. LOL.

But seriously can someone send me a screenshot to the support email. I don’t have my digital subscription with me at the moment. Thanks.

Wow! That is cool. And Blade Runner is my favorite movie.

But how would you be able to play this with Fathom without having polyphonic aftertouch or MPE? The original was a CS-80 and for sure Vangelis was pressing polyphonically...

Post

I'm probably misunderstanding. It's early in the morning and not had coffee yet. But Fathom CM is polyphonic, isn't it? It's not Fathom Mono that they're using.

indeed, the CS-80 emulations (ITB), really come to live whith poly-aftertouch (or a MPE controller set to..).

but nice that fathom gets this attention, a wonderful playground. and yes MPE would be nice, although i only own Fathom Pro, and not Vector.

Fathom CM is polyphonic same as Fathom pro. Neither has MPE polyphonic after touch pressure.

It’s on my list.

Next I plan to do double floating point processing and spectral morphing using GPU processing. This essentially will permit zero alias analog emulation. It is the final frontier of sound.

Does this mean full MPE will be implemented in FathomSynth Pro eventually? Or just poly aftertouch? I would love MPE implementation. I rarely use non MPE synths these days. I know it's probably hugely complicated to implement in existing synths?

What parts of mpe do you need?

Would it not be mostly just after pressure?
