Hello,

as sound designing becomes more demanding, a video playback track is important.
I'm starting to create sound designing projects, but BWS lacks a video track which
is something missing & vital.

Indeed you can't live without a video being synced, were ideas are connected
to a film or so. & this is essential for any sound designer & it's not available in BWS.

I tried to make the same thing but by opposite, loading my
audio into a video editor, but this isn't practical for sound designing since the audio
requires re-Edits again & again going back & forth.
In fact most of the industry film sound designers are using Pro-Tools,
Logic or Audition.

as you might know video trend is getting more important even with DJ's & Remixers.
Audible & Visual elements becoming more directional & relative to each other.
knowing that Youtuber's are struggling more these days. so that's why we have seen
lot's of video editing software everywhere, some of them are cloud based.

obtaining knowledge for video production + graphic design requires at least 60% that
a musician should be aware of, in order to get the job done.

with no doubt that video impacts average viewers so even if someone doesn't like
music there is still chances were success remains by more 40% at least.

So I think it's the time for this feature to come out, since syncing is very important
in sound design & I hope BW is implementing it.

sometimes we want to change our music field directions to Film score & sound
designing field by arranging (Dialog, Foleys, SFX) to sound more as a film,
However BW community claims that it's a great DAW for such task.

Unless BWS is dedicated for music sound designing only no more,
which means BWS is not implemented to engage with a film,

I'm not sure about that.

I was going to go on this rant (because I have a few minutes to kill) but yeah, 3 people makes a we.

I've never been stumped by the lack of video to design sounds so it doesn't seem so essential nor vital here. In fact, I've never seen a preset pack for any of my synths that says: "designed with video" but maybe I missed it. :D

Seriously though, didn't the peeps at Bitwig say they were not interested in video for Bitwig at some point? I thought I read that somewhere, maybe I dreamed it.

Good luck with that.

It is good there are VST options.
But lack of video kept me away from Bitwig for a while, and I imagine its the same for others. I use Bitwig for everything but orchestral and video work. I don't expect to score a feature on Bitwig, but for short video projects, it would be very nice to have basic (native) video support.

Video Slave has only subscription which
is expensive.
Lots of companies turned to subscription system. It feels like you are owing all the time unlike one time payment per version.

I hope BW never go that way.

but either there one time payment is a lot more expensive 339$ Not that much advantages:

-Includes all 4.x updates
-Discounted upgrade fees
-Uses PACE license system(I assume a dongle maybe)
-Machine or iLok licensing

seems it has an editor also.
They say it’s even better than the DAW built in video engine. Actually it Doesn’t need all those features.

A very basic video editing features is more than enough to work with in a DAW. like avid pro tools.

BW please help us by affording this

I never tried Video Slave but I agree about VidPlayVST. It works perfectly in Bitwig.
Obviously I would prefer a native solution, It would be great if bitwig addressed this shortcoming of their otherwise great DAW.
(I hope though that bitwig will design something nicer than VidPlayVST because even though VidPlayVST does it's job just fine, but oh my God... it's ugly as hell. :D; Those alternating orange and green letters :dog:)

Linux users would certainly benefit from a native BWS video player/track(s).
I really hope this feature comes along. It doesn't have to be anything fancy either.

That's my take, just native support of a few movie formats is all. I rarely do soundtrack work, but half the time I don't need a big orchestral type set up, just a solid playground for foley and melodies. The DAWs that are good at orchestral or big templates are not so fun for just knocking out some odd 70's inspired synth heavy soundtrack.
