Other than Logic's Sampler, of course.

I know of Ableton being able to do this. What else can?

Kontakt used to be able to do this, but I’ve seen reports that it no longer works.

TX16Wx and Presence XT (Studio One) both claim EXS compatibility.
I hate signatures too.

Chicken Systems Translator can convert them. It was the main engine licensed for use in older Kontakt versions.

Full versions of HALion (3, 4, 5, or 6) can load .EXS files.
If you still have Kontakt 4 or 5 installed (they can co-exist with Kontakt 6), either can load .EXS files and then be resaved as .NKI files that will load into Kontakt 6 successfully.

For some reason or another, NI decided to kill off the ability of Kontakt 6 to load EXS files. Go figure.

Wow, thanks guys. You rock! 8)

Had forgotten that Falcon could do this (used to own that).

Will probably try getting hold of an earlier version of Kontakt, to do the most recently suggested thing. That sounds like the perfect solution for me.

edit: Er, how does one get hold of, say, Kontakt 4? Apparently version 5.1 might be the most recent that could do this without too many errors to bother, or whatever, but v4 should be absolutely fine...

As is often the case for this kind of question, Image-Line's DirectWave can read .exs files with a reasonable success rate
