How to make that sound...

Anyone know how the SFX at 0:07, 0:17, and 0:30 were made?
I was able to sort of recreate the transient element with a high resonance filter sweep but I cant seem to figure out the high pitched ringout. Some kind of FM maybe?

Very interesting sounds! I'd be glad to know more about this, too.
Could you upload what you already have? That way we might have a better basis to start with.

Great! When you put a BP filter with high resonance on noise and sweep it, then some frequencies will produce the sine wave sound.
Together with an echo it will result in some of the fx sound here.
But Choos: the OP was especially much asking for that which you call the 2nd layer in your tutorial: the metallic sound that rings out?

hahaha I admit that I didn't read the description at all but once I heard that sound I wanted to make it :)
It's definitely a separate layer and from those old rompler it wouldn't surprise me if part of it was a distorted wanna-be cymbal but because it's blended I'm not sure. but layering something like that with it will help

Very shallow audio rate random sample and hold on the cutoff of a bandpass filter that is filtering noise with high resonance then into some distortion and downsampled will get ya close. Those fx all are from some old library. We used it on a show I worked on once. It had tons of the classic anime and kung fu movie effects built in. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the library. It was pretty lofi. And then the sound designers for those shows were using pretty old school samplers to cut the effects in.

My conclusion: Very interesting sounds! I'd be glad to know more about this, too.

I'm sorry noone could tell you how to CREATE the sounds you're after so far
but I hope that at least this has been very entertaining to you as well.

Choos you are a legend! The band-passed white noise was exactly what I was looking for. Will post back here once I have everything put together.

Hahaha and we thought that you wanted to know about the "cymbal" in the background

I'm confused and no cleverer than before concerning the other sounds I could hear there and had in mind.
Glad that the OP will post back and add the other sounds if he thinks he's got it all together...

Ok here's what I was able to come up with:

The bandpassed noise is a bit too clean right now and probably needs some saturation to help break it up. I'll have to mess with it more later. Thanks for the help y'all!

I like it! I originally put it through some of the bitcrushing filters in Vital but the I couldn't use the other.
I would definitely process it way more in post but that sounds nice so far!
