Nice atmosphere. Like the subtle sub energy. 1:58 and the tones coming into it are great.

lovely piece!
really nice work with the multitap delay to create the tones from plinks and plucks
if i have one complaint, for my tastes, a little short. could easily stretch this out with a few more "moves"
that said, it's lovely as is too.

Thank you both. I'm glad you think it could be longer, for I'm always trying to avoid meandering and personally prefer such pieces when they are somewhat shorter.
Also, your guess is close, but it's actually granular synthesis with prepared samples (in this case the opening phrase), although there are multiple granular engines and reverb with low diffusion, so the effect is similar to a multitap.

Really enjoyed this - listened 3 times now!
Reading your last comment - really clever use of granular synthesis...still my favourite 'go to' sound design tools without a doubt!
Nothing in the mix that gets seriously in the way of the listening experience, but...
Those great sub sounds that appear here and there...i found the way they lingered / rumbled on for a while slightly took my ear away from other aspects.
Mix is quite bass heavy overall with not a lot of the very top end to my ear - was this deliberate? It certainly works in this context.
The only thing that bugged me a little bit was a little touch of harshness around about the 3kHz - 6kHz area (I'm guessing here)...some quite resonant moments and in that particular frequency area they can very quickly become quite intrusive to some people's ears.

Opaque,
Thank you for the review! Now your song: sounds like good background music for a movie or TV show in my opinion. Sounds nice. Curious what state or country you are from.
