ChameleonMusic wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 11:57 am Fantastic track -listened a number of times now and it hasn't dipped yet! :)

There IS a lot going on but that doesn't matter at all if it's all well judged... and it definitely is here!

Musically:
So many short, sharp, catchy little melodic fragments all over the track.
Very well judged dissonant moments as well to add to the tension.
Rises and falls effortlessly at just the right moments for me.

Production:
Every aspect is beautifully balanced with all the chosen sounds combining incredibly effectively.
Some might suggest that it's a little bit 'cold and clinical' in its sound, but I think that works really well here with the musical content...a slightly more warm, smooth sound would take something away from the listening experience....remove that edge of danger and adventure?

It would make a great TV theme tune for some sort of quirky sci-fi drama!

PS
Rhythmic motif in the opening has a tiny little bit of Knight Rider in it?
best FB i could ever hope for from YOU, Mr. Taylor.
Thank you, Thank you!!!

Great track. It's got that signature sound I've come to expect. I swear, you must've spent a lot of time listening to Bassic. :phones:

love that guitar tone too, used it in other tracks
love Bassic, i discoverd Martin several years ago
when i heard his tranquility base song. the guy

he has influenced me indeed.

I also use Amplitube here with an older version, no need for the newer ones, still more than enough amps to choose from. And yeah, the good old 32Bit-synths. I have a lots of them here still. And imo at that times there were more coming out with lots of creativity behind before the 64 Bit era.
well , i had a jolly good time chipping away at this one. i dialed up some
fave sounds on my old workhorses and they got it done. ;)

I also like good sense of harmony and melody, which sometimes I miss in songs made by hobbysts. Sound design works well for creating atmosphere and it usually done with free VSTs, which reminds us how many useful tools out there that doesn't even cost money...
hello! thanks for taking the time to write a great comment.
i firmly believe that its the craftsman behind fine works
not just the tools used. i took the time to learn the ins and outs
of all my tools free and paid. however i found long ago that
i can get ALOT done with some of the many free tools out there ;)

I've now listened to "Backslide": Nice, dramatic beginning - great bass
line right at the beginning. Hajeah, the Charlatan bass line complements
itself perfectly with the higher elements and the interspersed guitar.
The room is also well chosen. :tu:

This could be the theme song for a detective film or an agent thriller. It's a
great instrumental song with a lot of tension and atmosphere!

BTW: I think it's funny that there are still people who express themselves
disparagingly about freeware - or are even amazed that you can make music
with it. :hihi:

More fine work from layzer. Thanks for the share !

Lots of cool sounds and a great mix. The bass is very crunchy and sleezy. Sounds like a few FM type sounds to me that are done very nicely. An enjoyable ride with nice twists and turns.
Well done.
